    Default Should Canelo lose.....

...... we all know what's coming. The list of excuses will be longer than the list of bums he fought in his first 30-some fights. Sure, Father Time could finally catch up with the 36-year old Floyd. Or Floyd could get careless and catch a home run shot from Canelo. But let's say Canelo loses. What will the excuses be? Let's get them out in the open now.... and save ourselves some time. I'll start the list off.

    • He got robbed (even though Las Vegas is close to being annexed to Mexico).
    • He was weight-drained.
    • He's too young.... should've never been in there with Floyd.
    • He laid off Floyd out of respect. Could've knocked him out (VD's personal favorite).
    • Floyd cheated his way to a victory.
    • He had a secret injury, but went ahead with the fight anyway.
      • He was ill.
      • His hands hurt.
      • He ate something that disagreed with him.
    • Personal problems..... he couldn't concentrate on his training.
    • It was his trainer's fault..... wrong gameplan.
    • It was his manager's fault..... should've held out for 154.
    • Lousy refereeing.

Let's hear them now, and get it over with.

Well, if you would only fight the 154 pound champ at 154, then there would be no excuses about weight. Floyd is a hypocrite and a charlatan considering the stick he gave to Manny. Furthermore, I don't see anything deep or meaningful in the record of Alvarez outside of Trout who outlanded him. Alvarez is the one who needs to answer all the questions and I hope he does, but Mayweather usually calculates before fighting anyone and a bit of weight here, a few smoke and mirrors there, and he usually dupes a few people into the circus routine. I've no idea why his fights are the biggest in boxing considering all the obvious con tricks put into them each and every time.

Miles... forget what Floyd has cajoled other opponents to agree to.
    Forget the Floyd-Manny melodrama.
    This is all that matters:

Floyd: I'll only fight you at 152.
    Canelo: ok

    End of story.

Well, money will make some people do stupid things. Sure, Canelo should have said no and he only has himself to blame, but the CW exists and thus it can be criticised and will be a factor. Floyd shouldn't need these extra advantages and considering the money he makes, he owes the people that do pay for his fights something worth watching. As things stand, Floyd Mayweather makes a mockery of his opponents and anybody paying for them.

If Alvarez loses it's because the referee has a gambling problem and bet against Alvarez.

But it could have been any weight under any circumstance Floyd wanted, for example:

Floyd: Lets both put on 50lbs and fight at heavyweight, and wear swastika tattoos on our foreheads.
    Canelo: Wtf? No way.
    Floyd: But $$$$$$$$$$$.
    Canelo: Hail Hitler!
    You say tomato,
    ‘n I say …… it correctly.

I think it's all calculated perfectly for Money. Floyd wins a reasonably close but clear decision, lets say 116-112 but after 8 it's all square and Canelo says the weight was a huge factor and energy levels weren't there in the final few rounds. This sets up a rematch at 154 for even more money then this fight. It's genius.

alvarez agreed to fight at this fight at these terms. he didn't have to take this fight with mayweather. he could have chosen to fight by his standards. he could have chosen to only take fights at his proper weight. he could have chosen to work at and create his own legacy where he would eventually be able to dictate all the terms to his fights the way mayweather does. but as i read on another thread (and i can't remember who said it) canelo is being fast-tracked to stardom...and part of that fast tracking is choosing to fight the current #1 P4P. all time great fighters don't normally do this at the age of 23. they take time and develop. steadily increasing their skills and cachet and level of opponents until they're at the top. do you think if floyd had been given the chance at the age of 23 to fight the greatest active fighter of his era with that fighter dictating all the terms of the fight that he would have taken the fight? i know he wouldn't. it wouldn't matter how much money he was offered because floyd was building himself into a complete fighter and creating an empire, not trying to snatch someone else's fame and fortune and run away with it. alvarez took this fight because he wants the money and fame the easy way. so people should shut up and stop blaming floyd for canelo's greedy choice.

    • he got robbed (even though las vegas is close to being annexed to mexico).he will never say he got robbed. Too much pride.
    • he was weight-drained. No again as he made 150.73 lbs wednesday
    • he's too young.... Should've never been in there with floyd. You can never be too young my friend
    • he laid off floyd out of respect. Could've knocked him out (vd's personal favorite). No again as canelo would love to knock him out and wouldnt let respect get in the way of a little face-smashing
    • floyd cheated his way to a victory. That could well be my only agreement with your list as floyd is a forearm in the throat kind of elbow to the neck kind of hit on the break sportsman.
    • he had a secret injury, but went ahead with the fight anyway. David haye aint fightin til the 28th amigo
      • he was ill. 23 yr olds dont get ill
      • his hands hurt. Manos de hierro forjado
      • he ate something that disagreed with him. Mexicans have iron stomachs

    • lousy refereeing. This is a norm, but the ref will not let floyd get away with shit this time as that sandwich tycoon from mexico city paid some money for fair reffing in this one

let's hear them now, and get it over with.
    none of the above

So what if he loses? No big deal he is young and not as experienced. He gets on with his career.

the fucker has one less fight than Mayweather, you can throw that not as experienced excuse out the window, and the fact that he's young is his advantage not an excuse to a loss, I honestly don't give a fuck who wins, but Mayweather's fanboys better not come crying that he's 36 and that Canelo is bigger if he loses, and hell I don't want to hear a single excuse if Canelo gets spanked, unless there is some blatant bullshit like a robbery or favoritism in refereeing which there shouldn't be seeing how the ref is Bayless and he's IMO the best ref around today, the loser and his fans should just suck it up and deal with it, the winner should get all the glory and praise on THIS performance alone
