Default buying a heavy bag ?

Need help finding a heavy bag. I want a leather and I want a water filled. At least I think I want a water filled. Over 100lbs and if I can angled. Or do you guys think an angled is worth it. How about one those Muay thia bags. I figured with those being narrower then it would help with accuracy. what do you think

Don't buy a full size heavy bag. They are a pain in the ass. Grab a 150 dollar old fashioned Everlast half size sand filled. Spend your money on gloves. With the medium bag you can move it around and try different places. For example there was not a suitable place for me to even have a medium bag at my place. I put it in my unheated shed in the summer but take it to work in the winter. It's now -20 so I once again moved it to my shop and here is how I set it up. It may look bush league but you torque that HD clamp down with a snipe and that bag is going nowhere. I usually have to adjust it once a month.

    That is an option.

    Hi jus1975,
If you're strictly buying one for boxing (and not also for kickboxing and/or MMA), I'd stick with a four to five foot long, 70-100 lb traditional-filled leather heavy bag. You'd do fine purchasing one from any of the big companies like Title, Everlast, Ringside, Twins, Adidas, Fighting Sports, Top Contender, Fairtex, Cleto Reyes, etc. Roam the internet to see which company offers up the price that fits your budget.

In regards to water-filled bags, if your hands are fragile (even with wraps and gloves on) then go for it. I personally don't like 'em as I prefer to hit things that are as dense or denser than the human body and water-filled bags don't fit that bill for me.

Anyway, good luck with your search and purchase...

    Take Care,
    Lito

I was worried about the water bags for that reason. Just been reading that they are safer for the long run. Im getting older so I have to think about my joints.

I have a 120 lbs. water bag that is hanging from a chain very similar to the one that IamInuit has (except not with a c-clamp).

One thing I don't like about it is that I don't have to hit it very hard for it to start shaking (chain and all) and because of that, it gives me the false impression that I'm punching it hard when I'm really not. Is it because it's hung from a long chain (it's hung from the ceiling in the barn) that makes it do this?

I've only hit a water bag twice, and it was heavy on sore hands. That long chain will do it, make it shake like that. At least I think so, because I was in a gym in Texas and one in Riverside and they both had long chains hanging their bags and they shook funny.

That explains it. The chain it's hanging from is over 3 feet long. Almost as tall as the bag itself (which is fairly long too).

Hmm, the photo won't come up, but if you click the link, you should be able to see a picture I snapped of my heavybag.
