Default Glen Johnson fights on against a man who hasn't fought in 15 years....

    Y! SPORTS

In an 8 rounder no less.

This is unfortunate, especially for Johnson's opponent I figure.

Glen must be broke. It was fitting when he retired on FNF a few years ago, but he had a change of heart.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Yep, I read that he has been teaching fitness boxing classes regularly, he obviously isn't rolling in cash. Still, if he wants to do that and fight on for a while who can stop him, the guy isn't a tragic case or anything. His opponent has a lot more to worry about as you say, 16 years I think Glen Johnson could still probably beat Chavez Jr, that would give him a payday to retire on as well.

Yh, he would need a win or two first. He's had a few too many recent losses.

This ismthenbad side of boxing, finding an out strategy, while maintaining a living.

Johnson is selecting his opponents carefully and below his level. This is a good strategy rather than face an undefeated fighter and retire like Winky Weight and Hatton did.

Glen's spent about 20 years not only fighting the toughest guys who would fight him, but fighting them in their backyards, with a high pressure style that's very taxing on the body. So I think he's earned the right to make a few paydays fighting stiffs at the ripe old age of 45.

Good for him. I'd rather hear about him fighting stiffs than fighting killers. At his age, the last thing he needs is to have his brain rattled by some up-and-coming murderer.

I wish he would have retired when he had announcment on FNF. Its ironic that a class warrior who earned his bones and demanded respect competing with and beating the quality he "wasn't supposed to" is now grapsing at shadows right back on a journeyman circuit. His place is cemented and can only hope he finds some avenue to training...the roots and knowledge of this sport can be gold for some young guy coming up.

I agree and Tarver and Jones are somehow still fighting while Chad Dawson seems to be thinking about retirement.

Johnson would make a good trainer or maybe a commentator, he has a distinctive accent.

True dat, and to think the only "unofficial enhancement" Johnson probally ever used unlike the two was eating dirt and being told he couldn't do something. He'd be a sage in a camp.

Yes he's a good man and a hard worker. Funny too if you remember his post fight interview with Richard Hall who was asking for a rematch after a shut out.

Johnson told him: "No it just be da same ting man. It just be da same ting."

    Lol
