Default GBP being investigated for fight fixing. FBI

And right on the heels of the inner split. Ftr I dont believe Alvarez/Angulo was fixed. You dont get shit kicked like that to throw a fight. But it seems its much more then that.

    Just use the google translator

EL FBI INVESTIGA ARREGLOS EN EL BOXEO POR PARTE DE GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS

    They then raided his office.

It's Going Down! FBI Raids Oscar De La Hoya's Promo Company

    Troubling stuff.

What would lead them to suddenly check one promotional company? Fights have been fixed for hundreds of years but they're going to suddenly single one company out, suspicious.

Good! They have investigated the bodies and the backroom syndicates promoters should be under the eye glass too. Dive jobs and arrangments are not only reserved for the low level Rick Elvis Parkers of the fight world. Anytime a business, relationship etc deals with inside turmoil and splits..the skeletons will crawl out of the closet. Someone is talking 'shop'

Yeah lots of fixes in all different colours and ways over the last 150 years. When you think about it even a mismatch can be called a fix. Look at tonight. Quick stoppage on Ponce, robbery over Herrera and a phantom punch ko on the same night. Why fight at all? Just declare people winners before the bell and send everyone home.

It is terrible and I would like to see it fixed but I assume the FBIs major concern is the money and that the government gets their cut of every penny.

It's weird to think about truth in sport. Take the Floyd/Manny drama for instance. People believe whatever they want even if there is video evidence contradicting their beliefs. It's Floyd, it's Manny, it's nonsense. I used to believe the dishonesty was probably worse in the old days when the promoters hired and paid the writers for "their opinions". But I just can't bring myself to that anymore. Every single day I'm disappointed by this sport and every day it sinks lower. All the evidence in the world doesn't change a thing. Thank God for that(sarcasm implied)

Seems tax evasion is a major part of this and they do kind of go hand and hand. I mean speaking for myself its been getting to the point where I dont enjoy the sport anymore after watching it for 45 years. Not as interested in forums anymore and find it hard to get up for fights. Every freakin week its something and at the elite level so they call it. If not for the British domestic scene and the wars for the Lonsdale I probably would have taken a long hiatus by now. Its root rot at the top. Its like the Public service.

That's the crap part for me. I'm on the road too much to get access to the British fight scene. I'm stuck watching whatever I can find and ignoring the result and most boards opinions. I'm not really sure who is wrong more the judges or the fans. But like you said earlier the matchmaking can be as much of a fix as paying a judge. Half the "good fights" now are made to look good but not be good. I often become a fan of a guy, root for him to get a good fight and then start disliking them because the waiting for a good fight takes so long. Champs that "aren't ready" for....wait, what?! Prospects that are put in so soft they don't improve. Contenders that wait for the right champion. And now one aspect of fixing is called into question, how could I not be skeptical?

The Scott/Wilder fight looked like a dive to me.... Scott did get hit, but it wasn't "that" bad. jmo... but, I wasn't the one in the ring.

    Corruption in boxing? Noooo

And yeah the Wilder fight looked really suspect. Not saying it was a fix, but at least I think Scott felt a taste of Wilder's power and bitched out.

    a) Angulo couldn't throw a straight punch for about 5 rounds.
    b) Herrero dominated Garcia, but robbed.
    c) Scott lost his legs after being tapped on the gloves.

For sure they should be investigated. Dodgy.

The problem who is qualified to lead these investigations. In tennis there is a tennis integrity unit to investigate match fixing but this is generally spotted by dodgy betting patterns and the majority of match fixing in boxing is not for betting purposes.

I would love to see an independent organisation get a % of all purses to investigate suspect judges/refs/fighters

Maybe this is why Schafer is leaving.

People with money don't get caught moving money around because the rules are too vague and the lawyers can argue another intent. They get caught trying to cover things up, interfering with the investigation.
