I was a bit surprised at my results.

I always thought I had more English than Irish ancestry. But according to my results, it's the other way around, although my bloodline and surname are Anglo-Saxon.

Ireland and Scotland: 71%
England, Wales, and Northwestern Europe: 29%

It's where your ancestors came from. Were they Gaelic Celts or Anglo-Saxons?

The Brythonic people (Welsh, Cornish, and Strathclyde Britons) have mixed so much with the Anglo-Saxons that they have difficulty in determining the DNA.

They are not yet able to separate Irish Gaelic Celtic DNA from Scottish Gaelic Celtic DNA. The Gaelic Scots came from Ireland to western Scotland from around 500 to 600 AD).

But they can separate Gaelic Celtic (Irish and western Highland Scottish) from English/Welsh/lowland Scots (lowland Scots are descended from the Angles and Strathclyde Britons).

Dudes I warned everyone here about DNA tests. They can’t really prove shit about your heritage. They compare existing DNA of everyone’s sample. In order to be accurate they would need to go back thousands of years. Also, once your DNA is in the system law enforcement has used it and got family members for crimes, familial DNA. Who does this by mail testing. Seems very open to compromise. Ever take a minute to realize how much DNA we make public just by taking out the trash. DNA testing is increasingly big in pets, everything from inherited diseases to busting dogos and owners for wrongful pooping . No shit. There's a company that offers genetic testing for landlords. They can log info into a registry. So no more blaming the cat.
