Thank you for another fucking awful thread.
Graham Earl is worse than Danny Williams who at least has been active and losing as opposed to Earl who has taken time off and come back just losing.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
A few of those Maltese fighters are trained at Scott Dixons Gym out there
Scott does LOADS for the kids over there and has some decent young fighters coming through.
It's a Big thing over in Malta and they have a healthy scene and love their boxing
Little article about Boxing in Malta
Sitting in his sun drenched balcony Scott Dixon knows how lucky he is to be alive and wants everyone else to know how lucky he is. "I've been stabbed shot and slashed, I've been to the pits of hell and I've came back from it. God saved me and he has gave a second chance I thank him for it everyday"
The former Commonwealth Welterweight Champion has had many notable battles in the ring, but his biggest battle was one he had to fight away from the spotlight of the ring. Dixon, who was forced to retire from boxing in 2004 after a vicious attack which left him unable to walk and having a steel plate placed in his arm, told Pro Box Scotland "Without boxing I was a nobody, I became depressed really depressed,I had suicidal thoughts, I actually tried it that's how low I was.I was doing stupid things. I looked the devil in the eyes but I'm back from there and I'm in a better place now"
During this personal battle the Hamilton man decided he needed a change of scenery he continued "I needed away from Scotland,I had to clear my head, I decided to go to Malta because I had a wee daughter over there. It was best thing I done." With uprooting to the Med there was still something missing in Scott's life "I came here and there was no proper boxing structure as such, no amateurs and any shows were semi-pro. I got involved training guys and saw that they loved boxing here. We now have Malta Boxing Council and we have amateur boxing, its great to be part of it and we haven't got the politics that go on in boxing here"
With being back in and around boxing he was getting the bug for it and was enjoying his life again he continued "I was in the gym passing on my knowledge, I now have my own gym and we have pros from around the world coming to train here and do training camps with us" With the injuries sustained in the past a ring return looked one battle to many for Dixon in many peoples eyes "I was training guys then started promoting, I looked at the promoting as my job and not the fighters as I know the pressures fighters are under without pressure of trying to sell tickets. I've saw good fighters getting nowhere because they couldn't sell loads of tickets which in my eyes is wrong. The Maltese champion challenged me, so I thought I would give it go again. I got in the ring and the old magic started to come back"
After taking part in a number of semi-pro fights on the Island Dixon felt he had what it took to get back in the paid ranks he said "I got knocked back for my license from the BBBoC because of the plate in arm, I'm licensed by BDB (Germany). I'm gutted BBBoC wouldn't give me a license. I used to fight with a Saltire cut into my head, I've boxed for Scotland as an amateur I'm so patriotic. The night I beat Ruben Varon in that bull ring in Spain my granddad was jumping about with a Union Flag that's just another story of how much of patriot I am.It hurts they wont give me a license. I would love to be able to fight back in Britain but its a sad day when a patriot has to change his Nationality to get the chance to box. But I know I will be back"
A month before his 36th birthday he defeated German based Syrian Baker Barakat for the WBU Super Middleweight Title he continued "I've been Commonwealth Champion, fought some big names in the past but beating Baker Barakat is the highlight of my career, you've got to remember that I was out the ring for eight year, this was my first fight back after everything I've been through. The WBU might not biggest governing body in some peoples eyes but I thank them for giving me a chance and I will stand by them forever"
"I've something left in the basement" may have been said by The Italian Stallion in Rocky Balboa but its something Dixon believes about himself he added "People say I'm hungry for this but I'm not I'm starving! In my eyes I've done nothing in boxing yet its all still to come, God has gave me a second chance and this is his plan for me. I know next year will be a massive year for me, I will fight anyone I'm 36 now so time isn't on my side. I'm in talks to fight Reggie "Sweet" Johnson who fought Roy Jones Jnr and an other big name has been contacted to fight me so 2013 will be massive for me. I'm fighting better now than I did before, people wont believe I'm fighting better but I am."
He is known as "Super Scott" to most fight fans but he explains that it wasn't the only nickname he was known by "I always liked Superman and the Superman badge and I training with a Superman t-shirt on and one of the boys in the Peacock gym said its Super Scott Dixon and it stuck, but with me training in the famous Peacock gym and being Scottish I was also called The Jockney Kid" he said while laughing. He continued "I loved my time in the Peacock gym some of the best people I ever met I met there and some of the best times of my life where had there. Believe it or no its where I found my faith"
The boxer who once was the body double for Brad Pitt, life story will be put in print in the near future "I met a guy over here called Dave White who is an author, we got talking and I told him a few stories and he couldn't believe them. So I told him a few more and he said it would make a great book. So my life is going to print and it will be warts and all because that's who I am and makes me who I am today"
The fighter who famously took Jamie Moore's 0 at four days notice wanted to give a message to fight fans in Scotland " To the people who done that to me I forgive them. The fat lady hasn't sung yet and it aint over for me yet all that happened is part of God's plan for me. I promise I will be back. I've changed my ring colours because of our relationship with Paffen Sports but when I make the return to Scotland the Superman shorts will back. I promise I will be back"
