Which muscles do you mainly use to do an uppercut?
Like all punches just about all your muscles...![]()
Look at Tyson's uppercut that put Spinks down for the first time in their fight.
It's a good example and you'l see all the muscles you need!
Im not sure exactly what upper boby muscles are include but a massive amount of power come from the legs.
you should dip down and dig into the upper cut by bending the knees and coming up with everything you've got legs and all
dont get hung up on what muscles are involved in what punches... its a fools errand to train the body as a sum of its parts.
just get the form nailed and focus on your general training, most of the power comes from technique and practice.

I think thats well said,as alot of people get caught up in pre thought and so cant fight freely and allow their reactions to flow when it counts.Originally Posted by GutShot
But there is room in the begining to realize which muscles to exersize so you can train them into your technique, the trick is dont get stuck anywhere in your thinking.once you 'can do something' (dont think it anymore) or you are placing a dampener on your natural speed and efficiency .
Its a right brain left brain conundrum.
Left hemisphere is analytical for learning and equating.
Right hemishphere is for intuition gutfeeling whats right or wrong and it works best and freely when it has the information or learned tools from the left side completely known off by heart so then it can work free within that chosen field naturally so you can then operate freely in perfect timiing. Then you are in the zone in whatever you do, automatic pilot takes over and you flow like water.
