Once in a while (and it has been a LONG while) I gotta post on Rocky. What a tribute to the sport of Boxing he was.

Greatest cruiserweight of all time!
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
More like greatest light heavyweight of all time. Cruiserweights walk around at 215-230 and cut down. At 185, Rock would have cut to 175.
Imagine Rocky vs Kovalev, bombs away.
I think your being a bit kind to him with that stat of 43 KO-S
19 of wins 49 wins were TKOs, 7 by UD and the rest 26)were by KO....still a fearsome record to be fair.....but KO is 7,8, 9, 10
Plus he got lucky, he did not fight a prime Joe Louis, and he left the sport before Liston and Ali came along
Who knows ? He may have beaten them both. But I for one doubt it.

You can only beat who is about at the time, which he did we can say what if's but's
in there prime what ever, Rocky beat them all you can't do any more.![]()
Timing
Is a beautiful thing sometimes.
Rocky Marciano may have had the 'best' timing of any fighter, based upon
competition.
Cassius Clay {1st Reign} was a close second.
Marciano's timing was not premeditated like it was in the era of Holmes. Holmes got to 48 and 0 because of it and then lost a questionable decision to Spinks for the tie. Post fight he made the infamous Marciano "could not carry my jock strap" comment.
That is Karma for ya
@denilson200 YOu are correct and I have always said it, Joe Louis should not even have been in the ring at that point. Nor should Archie Moore have been, but Moore fought 9 more years after that!! So he wasnt as shot as some people want to say. Archie actually blossomed in his late 30s as a fighter believe it or not.
I believe Ezzard Charles however was only 32 or 33 years old when they fought and Charles was one of the craftiest, wiliest fighters of all time so I think Rocky just out-muscled him in both those fights. No way am I buying that Ezzard Charles was over-the-hill. Louis and Moore absolutely YES. And of course JJ Walcott, yes pretty much over the hill. I mean nowadays 37, 38 years old for heavies aint shit, they still fight now into their 40s.
As for me being "nice" Denilson, I dont really see it that way as his official record IS INDEED 43 knockouts of 49 wins.
(where did you get that 19 KO's? Maybe I misunderstood. Guess youre talking about stone-cold knocked out vis a vis a stoppage?)
You mentioned 2 fighters who I think COULD have beaten Marciano, though one of them said on 2 occasions that Marciano was better than Joe Frazier (who he fought 3 times so I think he knew about Joe intimately) and that Marciano may indeed have beaten him or knocked him out. As for Liston, that would have been a frikkin slugfest, it would have been amazing. Guess it could have gone either way. Of course I would favor Rocky as he and George Foreman and Aaron Pryor are my 3 favorite fighter of all time.
