Sad new that Cricketing Royalty Richie Benaud has passed away.
The voice of cricket throughout my youth and early adult life. Sincere, genuine, wicked dry wit, vastly knowledgeable.
Will be sadly missed.

When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
Charley Burley
Yep very sadly missed. Really was the voice of Cricket.
All those years of listening to him when I was a child I thought he worked solely for British TV/Radio. I thought he must have switched allegiances to England at some point. I remember being shocked to realise he also moonlighted for Australian TV. Traitor!
His tone was brilliant, he was funny, he was very gentle but would take no prisoners when needed. RIP.

I don't know him to be honest but any announcer who brings back fond and magical memories from our youth is so dearly special and will be sorely missed. r.i.p
Agreed. I shared many a youthful day with Richie Benaud. He had a very good innings. Well played.
Heard his family turned down a state funeral. He really must have been big. RIP.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Australian comedian Kevin Bloody Somebody did a great Benaud impersonation. And cue Ritchie. Cue Ritchie. Cue bloody Ritchie! Andre?
