Default I might have to train myself

I live in cleveland and the closest boxing gym is 30 miles from where i live. Why i dont know i mean its not like i live out in the middle of nowhere. Anyways tomorrow im gonna buy a speed bag, jumprope and what have you (- Heavy bag, Already own 1). Do you think instructional videos would help me at all? Also does any1 no any good speed bag workouts.
You don't have to hate a man to completely destroy him.

wait until you'll be 18 and move to the closest boxing gym.
it impossible to learn how to box without a trainer.

How old are you, do you drive. 30 miles isn't that far. my boxing gym is 45-50 miles away, it usually about an hour drive.

There aren't very many good books or tapes or dvds of recent vintage. If at all possible hook up a copy of Boxing by Edwin L Haislet as it is far and away the best how to ever done on boxing. Published in 1940 it is hard to find. In the early 90s the Emile Griffith Learn to Box video was very good.
It is possible to train yourself; Tommy Loughran was self trained. You'll hear lots about how you must have a trainer, and that is true if he is good at teaching, knows the sport, and if he is demanding enough to correct mistakes in pursuit of perfection. As your trainer slips below 100% in each and every category the less you need him. A sad fact of life these days is the dearth of true trainers, and as a beginneer you are apt to end up with some black belt that while ingrain some fatal flaws into your style.
Skip the jump rope and speed bag. Get a double end bag instead, and mirror a wall in the area where you'll be working. Begin with a proper stance then work your punches, in order beginning with the jab, and learning the basic defense against the punh as you go. Do not be in a rush; work for perfection and ingrain it with repition. Be very self critical as you watch yourself in the mirror and always work as sharply as if you were fighting. Don't over-train. Two rounds of stretches and calisthenics, two shadow boxing, a round in front of the mirror to workon a punch then a round on the heavybag to practice it,.that's good to start

I guess if you really tried and put forth a lot of effort, training yourself could give you a headstart for when you do decide to go to a gym, but I wouldn't advise trying to turn pro off training yourself; it just won't work.

Right, well for starters try turning caps lock off and people will listen to you... What do you want us to say? If you want to learn ho to box properly you need some one with knowlodge of all the techniques and training, you can't do it from sparring your matesd and checking your 'stance' in a mirror. End of story.... sorry...
