    Q&A: Roger Mayweather!

    April 8, 2006

    By Victor Perea

Two-time world champion "The Black Mamba," Roger Mayweather, now trainer of his nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr., spoke to Fightnews.com about tonight's big "Sworn Enemies" showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Zab Judah.

Having been promoted by Don King in your career, how does it feel headed into to this very heated battle between your nephew and a fighter promoted by your former promoter and long time friend?

It doesn't mean anything, this is just business. Nothing personal with Don. He's still a good guy and cares about our family.

How is team Mayweather preparing for this fight compared to recent fights versus Gatti and Mitchell?

We train hard for every fight. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not the best fighter in the world only because he shows up on fight night and makes it happen. He's mentally and physically prepared greater than any other fighter we train harder than anybody out there.

With Judah needing to win this fight more than any fight before, does that put any added pressure on the camp?

We are always prepared. We know that Zab Judah needs to win this fight, we know that he wasn't at his best when he lost to Baldomir, so we're not gonna expect to see a the same Zab Judah that Baldomir saw. But Zab already knows what he's gonna get. He knows we're not Baldomir, I know he knows.

Floyd has not fought a full twelve rounds since he fought Demarcus Corley in 2004, are you expecting another short night or will this be a longer battle?

We're expecting Zab to come with everything he's got, but Zab knows what Floyd's got, he knows what's coming. He's already gotten it.

Possibly PBF's greatest quality, his commitment to training and preparation. If it was any other fighter, then I would have given Zab a chance because they may have watched his defeat and cut corners in training. PBF will probably train harder and want to make a statement!
