The problem is any action whatsoever can easily be twisted into an accusation of bigotry or hatred or racism.

In this day and age it is not possible or shall I say politically correct to focus even the slightest verbiage or even the slightest narrowed down what specific analysis to any kind of group of people on this planet it doesn't matter if it is Muslims or blacks or yuppies or obese people etcetera etcetera the United States was bent on coming up with the term racial profiling back in the eighties and it's stuck. Actually it morphed and became political correctness right about the late 80s and or early 90s. There is a section of Cleveland Ohio which is about 85% African American and it just so happened that the majority of police officers for that section of Cleveland were white. And so therefore it became inevitable ...sadly and unfortunately... to Simply and easily dismiss any of the officers' attempts to maintain Law and Order as being racially motivated. Countless suspects got away with claiming racial profiling even if they had been caught with drugs or guns because their lawyers were able to show that the police officers focused on a specific group of people for certain undercover ops. On the southside of Chicago during the 1990s hundreds of drug dealers and criminals who carried illegal firearms and engaged in illegal activities had to be let go and their charges dropped by the prosecutor's office simply because there was a shred of evidence somewhere in the procedures that showed that the police officers were intending to investigate a very narrow group of people for certain operations. By narrow I mean in a racial sense rather than in a general sense of the population at Large. It did not matter that drugs and weapons were discovered in the process.
