Kelly Pavlik vs. GGG

I've come to miss Pavlik in the middleweight division recently.

He shined bright and burned out pretty quickly due to alcohol abuse, but he was a very good middleweight.

How do you think Pavlik at his best would have matched up against GGG?

Well that would have been a great fan friendly fight right there!

Kelly Pavlik reminded me of a more attack oriented Winky Wright, he had decent defense, he had very good power and a solid jab.


I think he could have troubled GGG and maybe the power would have had GGG nervous or shaken up a time or two, but I think the boxing skills of GGG, the ability to slip and counter would have been taylor made to break down Pavlik's style and stop him late.


I would also like to think of Pirog actually getting a chance to fight these guys, shame his back went out on him though and also he never capitalized on his fame when he starched Jacobs....Jacobs will be a good fight for GGG if he continues his success

Good breakdown n praise there Lyle. Taylor, Winky, and Pavlik were all better fighters than the competition GGG has right now.

I remember the Pirog Jacobs KO but never saw him fight again.

Spicoli, the thought has crossed my mind that even now Pavlik could be an interesting opponent with a comeback fight or two...

If Taylor could knock Pavlik down then I could see GGG stop him late and certainly win a decision. Fun fight.

Sad as this is it's true. I mean brain dead JT is as shot as a fighter could possibly be and he picked up a strap in this sorry ass division not long ago and he didn't even lose it in the ring FFS

I think Hop takes GGG apart similar to his wins over Pavilik, Tito, Cloud...etc. fight would most resemble the Tito fight though, in that Hop would constantly have GGG turning/circling while using his speed and jab to control distance and pace. I like GGG, just think Hop is a horrible style match up for him.
