Default Brewster lost. So what! Who really cares?

Lets be honest. The heavyweight division stinks. Does any of us really care that Lame Man Brewster lost? He's an average fighter at best, anyway. The heavyweight division just continues to sink into lower and lower depths.

    Bring on Mayweather-Judah!!!!

It was a great fight with back and forth action.

I wish Lamon could've won, but he wasn't the better boxer and the decision was right.

Lots of things about the division suck, but let's acknowledge a good fight when we get to see one.

i agree the heavyweight division sucks, but that was a very entertaining fight!!!!!!! So what if they are just average fighters. They both fought their ass off and showed tons of heart!!! JMO

No, the fight didn't stink. It was actually pretty interesting. But the fact that an average at best champ like Lame Man Brewster loses to an unheard of challenger just goes to show how weak and uninspired this stale division is right now.

Just 20 yrs ago you had Holmes, Weaver, Dokes, Berbick, Witherspoon and Renaldo Snipes. Now we've got this. My how the mighty have fallen.

Whether or not both fighters stink, I think the fight yesterday was a great thing for the heavyweight division. There hasn't been a heavyweight fight like that in years, boxing needed this.

Say what you want about Brewster and Liakhovich, but they have all the heart, chin, power that you could ask for in a fighter. At least they have that going for them.

I agree. I'm not gonna sit here and say Brewster is a great technical boxer, but his power is what makes him exciting. Add a very good chin to that and you have an exciting combination. Honestly, Sergei Liakhovich looked very skilled last night. His power is obviously good and his chin as well. When he was dropped by Brewster it looked like he went down on purpose. He was taking some serious shots on the ropes. In hindsight, that may have been a very smart move.
So what if he lost? Well, I think that fight was important because it was FRIGGIN' great to watch! Seriously. I don't care if someone thinks Brewster sucks or not. Bottom line, the fight was something the heavyweight division has been missing for quite some time. I would have been more than happy to pay a ppv price on that. AAAAAND I can't wait to see these guys do it again. I'll be looking forward to Liakhovich with great interest.

One thing is clear from this year so far. A Puncher with not so great skill can not lead a division. Lacy, Brewster, Peter, Rahman can not be a dominant force in their division unless they stop relying on mere stregnth. They need to develop skill. With that being said there cannot be an undisputed heavyweight champ at this point. The skilled guys in the division are inconsistant. If a guy like Brock is the hope for the division, im sorry but its in trouble. I think the winner of Wlad-Byrd II is probably the proven best in the very weak division.

PS = Brewster will be back. Boxing (not just the heavyweight division) needs more fighters like him. He's a warrior and he showed a helluva lot of class last night (before and after the fight). I take my hat off to him.

In April 86 you had Michael Spinks as World Champion of a division that had Whitherspoon and Berbick as alphabet champs...

Now if you think the likes of 86 vintage Whitherspoon, Berbick, Weaver, Dokes, Biggs, Snipes, Tubbs, Williams, Thomas and Smith, are any better than Byrd, Wlad, Rahman and Valuev, then you need to rewatch their fights... Of course business picked up a bit around November time, that year

No, Britkid, I stand by my statement. The division was much stronger than. Probably you need to rewatch some of their fights. Those guys were conditioned to go 15 rds, and the were much better BOXERS as opposed to big guys who just throw punches.

Tim Whitherspoon, Tony Tubbs, Greg Page, Dokes and Pinklon Thomas were many things in 86... but 'conditioned' was not one of them!

    April 1986 top ten;

Champion: Spinks, Great Light Heavy, but was never totally comfortable at Heavyweight.

#1 Tim Whitherspoon, Could of... should of... might of..., but didn't. Drugs and a lack of discipline saw to that.

#2 Larry Holmes, getting ready for the Spinks rematch, but already arguable as much as eight years past his best.

#3 Trevor Berbick, deserves kudos for making the most of the little he had, the 1986 version of Johnny Ruiz.

#4 Frank Bruno, great conditioned fight, heavy handed, but seriously lacking natural ability.

#5 Pinklon Thomas, supposedly the next big thing, until he lost to the poor Berbick, drugs ruined any chances he had.

#6 Mike Weaver, ancient Hercules had just beaten the streaking Carl Williams, but was a couple days away from getting flattened by Bonecrusher.

#7 James Douglas, great abilities, when he could be bothered to train and motivate himself, which was rarely.

#8 Tony Tucker, had the size and boxing ability to be superb, but once again drugs came into play.

#9 Tyrell Biggs, he may of only been 8-0, but he looked for real...shame he wasn't!

#10 Marvis Frazier well I did say the 86's Heavyweights sucked!

That top 10 is just as weak, as it is today IMO.
