    Default Jab duels.

The jab is the most important punch in a fighter's arsenal. What were some good fights between 2 fighters with great jabs?

Master beat me to Ike vs Oscar, which was the first fight I thought of when I read the title. Holmes vs Ali, although Ali was shot by this point and his jab was nowhere near as effective as it was early in his career. Riddick Bowe vs Evander Holyfield was another fight where both guys had great jabs (Bowe vs Golota also). Lennox vs Michael Grant, Moorer vs Foreman, and Ray Mercer vs Tim Witherspoon were other examples of great jabs dueling. Jermain Taylor vs. both Wnky and Kelly were great battles of the jab, as were MAB/Morales, Floyd/JMM, Izzy Vasquez/raph Marquez, a Buddy McGirt/Sweet Pea, and Leonard/Hearns.

The first fight that came into my mind wasn't a classic and likely won't be remembered that long compared to some other big big events ...... but I thought Thomas Hearns won over Winky Wright was a classic jab battle.

Hearns had a genuinely superb jab, evidenced by my view that he was the only person to outjab Ray Leonard, and he did it twice too.

Do you mean Hearns vs Virgil Hill maybe? Tommy never fought Winky, or am I remembering incorrectly?

You are right, X is mixing it up.

Yes, you're quite right. Of course it was Virgil Hill and not Winky Wright. I must have had a brain freeze

It was bound to happen when you are over 100 years of age and saw Sullivan v Corbett.

Good call that one X. Poor Hill tried to match jabs until the Hearns right started clanging off the side of his head. Hill did well to show some big brass being hurt multiple times.

Hill was firm favourite to win and just got outclassed by an old over the hill past his best Tommy. Virgil just seemed lost in the limelight of a big super fight.

There's a lifetime between North Dakota to Vegas indeed. Hearns set pace and counter boxed his arse silly. The only Hill Tommy rolled over that night was Virgil .

I can't think of one? It is just a very under-analyzed punch, even though it counts in punchstats. lol....
