    Default Happy St Georges Day

Have a cup of tea or rescue a princess or something. All the pubs will be empty until St Patricks Day when every funker and his dog are suddenly remember they once had a Guinness and wore a stupid green hat with their long lost Uncle Patrick. Wankers

Remember Keegan resigned after losing to Germany and everyone thought England were not going to qualify. Sven turned England into a quality team and even Hesky was brilliant that night.

    Steven Gerrard starting the comeback!

Do people still celebrate, display the flag in more smaller rural type areas? In London you'd probably get duffed up if you sported the flag, certainly be deemed an evil racist.

I live in rural Somerset now, and lots of people fly the Cross of St George all year round. There is no underlying politics to it as far as I can tell - ie they are not racist or stupid or anything.

Anyway, as a proud Welshman, happy St George's Day to my English brethren on here

I walked past my local yesterday and it was fucking covered in flags, everyone was dressed up in silly hats with oversized flags draped around them and they were all fucking leathered.

    It was nice to see

You will not find too many in Cornwall, after all many do not consider Cornwall to be part of England at all (and they have history on their side if you look into it) but all over Devon and Somerset like X has said, it's not uncommon. I have seen it in and around London too, and if people think that makes you an evil racist, then that's their problem. My mate Chaz who is a local Sikh Councillor usually borrows a horse and rides around with it and himself dressed in the England flag

The trouble with Morrissey is that not only is he racist the man is a liar.

In an interview with American music magazine Spin published on his new site Morrissey Central, the singer said: “London is second only to Bangladesh for acid attacks.

“All of the attacks are non-white, and so they cannot be truthfully addressed by the British Government or the Met Police or the BBC because of political correctness.

“What this means is that the perpetrator is considered to be as much of a victim as the actual victim.”

It is a familiar trope churned out as often as Asian Rape gangs. The reality?
There is a common understanding of acid attacks in the UK that goes something like this: the attacker is male; the victim female. Both are South Asian, and the violence has something to do with the man’s so-called ‘honour'.

But the most comprehensive set of data yet on acid attacks in London paints a different picture.

Statistics released by London’s Metropolitan Police to the BBC provide a breakdown of every recorded acid attack over a 15-year period by age, gender, ethnicity, borough, hate crime and outcome. It’s the fullest picture yet of the capital’s suspects and victims.

    The findings include:

    • The suspect was male 74% of the time and victim was male 67% of the time
    • Just 6% of suspects were Asian
    • Only one so-called ‘honour’ attack was recorded in 15 years
    • Four out of five violent offences never reached trial

The figures appear to contradict a belief that a relative majority of acid attacks involve the South Asian diaspora.

“Definitely not,” said Detective Superintendent Mike West, the Metropolitan police lead on acid attacks, who has reviewed the figures. “That does not ring true. It’s very mixed from various religions, backgrounds, different victims, different offenders.”

So as usual those actually living in England are actually reprimanded for celebrating living in England or being English, by those who are not living here, who seek to prescribe what their idea of England should be. Two Yanks and an Ex-Pat insisting that reality does not fit into their narrow minded definition of what England should be.

Pfft! That old line 'He is racist'.

Having just read the article you are referring to bulk of the acid attackers are black and I think that is pretty commonly known. We also know that the black community is also most likely to be affected by a lack of a father figure and thus prone to subsequent gang behavior. If Morrissey was to say the majority of the attackers are none white it would likely be quite true. Morrissey is prone to exaggeration, but that does not make him a racist.
