    Default Wembley

So they are talking about selling our national stadium to an American called Khan. A stadium we all helped pay for.

There is no denying how pernicious and damning American influence has been on the national game. If you can buy a club like United and fuck it up you can hardly pretend to know what you are doing.

It's just another example of selling off the countries assets and stripping the lead and slate for a short term fix.

I prefer having the national games around the country as they do in other countries. It gives fans who can not get to Wembely on Wednesday night a chance to see them. You know us poor people from the north.

The atmosphere there compared to the old Wembley is shite. It's all so corporate now. Went for the play offs last year and some prune told us to sit down. I miss standing terraces and the closeness to the pitch of the old Wembley.
you can still travel with National games but to sell it to a Yank would be disgusting

Yes I heard you are quite far away from the pitch which ruins the atmosphere.

Such xenophobia, bigotry, and racism.....very unflattering.

You don't know much about Shahid Khan apparently. Moved to America at the age of 16 to go to college. He spent his first night in a $2.00 room at the University YMCA, his first job was washing dishes for $1.20/hr, he graduated with a BS in Industrial Engineering and with that he took a job as head of engineering at the company Flex-N-Gate making car bumpers, eventually started his own business, then bought Flex-N-Gate, and boom now he's worth $7.5Billion

Sooooo yeah hate the Pakistani born American citizen as of 1991 all you want but he'll buy your fucking stadium and do as he fucking pleases with it you fucking bigot

What an endearing post Lyle. You think money is the be all and end all and so have demonstrated perfectly why so many people here detest the influence of American 'culture'.

And they call England fans ignorant thuggish hooligans. They got nothing on you.

That's your response? You who routinely call me all these horrible things (racist/bigot/xenophobe etc) are judging a person based on their citizenship and wanting to keep that person WHO HAS THE FUNDS from buying Wembley because "muh national team stadium"......you're a hypocrite, this makes you a hypocrite.

Yes attack ME because I called you out on your bullshit....hypocrite.

It is the American idea of privatising and commodifying everything that I am against and that does not make me a hypocrite at all.

Wembley is not supposed to be for sale. English tax payers helped fund it for our national team, not some god awful American Football team to use. You are just like your cuntish friends the Saudis who think everything is for sale at a price.

It's mind blowingly lame how you think over in North Carolina you are some kind of Liverpool fan, and now you think it's fine to just go over and buy off England so that we can become as vacuous as you.

I don't expect you to understand precisely because you are an ignorant sexist, racist bigot.

I don't see anything wrong with it. That's how shit is done in our open borders world. The stadium has already been changed. It's just a new owner. It's not like they have to sell to the dude, good on him for his success, that's what it's supposed to be about, improving yourself. No one needs a billion but how many people has he employed in his life. I wish I could do that for people

American beer is in the midst of a global identity crisis. Domestic sales of light beer fell again last year, while imported lagers, spirits and wines climbed. The biggest beer brands in the United States — think Budweiser, Miller and Coors — are now owned, respectively, by people in Belgium, England and Canada. The nation’s two most popular American-owned beer brands? Corona and Modelo. Both are brewed in Mexico.

It's not like the Brits haven't bought things in the US, we are not exactly up in arms about it, hopefully these deals benefit both sides of the pond

Britain’s high street banks processed nearly $740m from a vast money-laundering operation run by Russian criminals with links to the Russian government and the KGB, the Guardian can reveal.

HSBC, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds, Barclays and Coutts are among 17 banks based in the UK, or with branches here, that are facing questions over what they knew about the international scheme and why they did not turn away suspicious money transfers.

This one we didn't like too much, HSBC pulls some nasty shit especially with the drug cartels

I don't really care. The UK has enough stadiums. They should knock this one down and build a forest.

All banks by nature are corrupt. Here they have been fleecing people for years.

Agreed, this thread alone should give a few people bans.

I can see logic in some of what beanz is saying. When I think of Wembley I think of England. It is an institution but bottom line it's a business. I don't know if the U.K. Government would stop the deal like the US does with some of China's attempted purchase of some of our banking and tech companies but either way I don't think a US company purchasing Wembley would spread American ideals in England. I also agree with miles, in the US we end up paying for these multi billion dollar stadiums, it's bullshit and I won't stand for it anymore

Khan has American citizenship, his native home is Pakistan #1 you hateful bigot.

#2 why doesn't an Englishman buy it if it's such a national treasure.

#3 you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first, the deal is happening Khan is an alright dude as far as I can tell and you're a hypocrite with a shitty attitude
