    Default Football or no Football

The Dutch league has been abandoned and now the French league.
Should our government just scrap the season and start fresh with the next one?

Gotta feel for Leeds and West Brom fans if they do.

How the fuck would you keep half of Mersyside off the streets if Liverpool did win it anyway?

The longer the lockdown continues the more likely that the English football season will end without any champions, relegations and promotions.

UEFFA have given a May deadline for countries to let them know what they intend to do. Belgium and France have called an early end to their season already.

England are looking at starting matches in early June, there are 11 games to finish, with players quarantined by staying in hotels, staff being regularly tested, empty stadiums and games played in quicker succession. This can be achieved and is only fair.

They may even show the matches free which would be positive for the nation.

Ultimately this comes down to Money as Football always does these days, i agree with the FIFA medical chief and don't see how you can safely play a contact sport for 90 mins without contact, the fact that every player, member of staff etc would leapfrog the general public with testing will cause fucking uproar too.
It's gonna be interesting to see what the FA come up with next week.!
I want it back asap but is football so important in the UK that we can't just follow France etc and stop the season now?

FIFA medical chief Michel D’Hooghe has insisted football should not return until September 1 at the earliest.

The Premier League are still determined to finish this season but are running out of time amid serious health concerns because of the coronavirus crisis.

D’Hooghe, chairman of FIFA’s Medical Committee, said: “The world is not ready for competitive football, I hope this can change very quickly and I sincerely hope that. Today you need more patience.
"This is the most dramatic situation we have lived in since the Second World War. We should not underestimate it, we must be realistic.
"Football can only be possible if contact is possible again. Football remains a contact sport and avoiding contact is one of the first things everyone says is that you should avoid contact.

"It's still about social distancing. Testing is an important point but you have to repeat them. If one of the players becomes positive, you have to put the whole group into quarantine. Is that a solution for a normal competition?

they should make a decision and give themselves a cut off for when the season must start again safely else scrap it.

I can't see the season resuming again in time to complete it ahead of next year's to be honest.

Harsh on a few teams yes but you cannot decide results and thus promotion \ relegation or you'll have lawsuits that will just delay next season.

99.9999999% Liverpool would have won the league yes and Leeds , West Brom were clear but as we've seen some teams blow the run in and there's always one team in relegation trouble that finds a winning streak to get out of it.

Man City talisman Aguero has said he and his peers are 'scared' to return to work, desperate to protect their families.
"The majority of players are scared because they have children and families," the 31-year-old told El Chiringuito. "I'm scared, but I'm with my girlfriend here and I'm not going to be in contact with other people.
"I'm locked in my house and the only person I could infect is my girlfriend.
"They're saying that there are people that have it and don't have any symptoms but still infect you. That's why I am here at home. Maybe I have the illness and I don't even know."

Aguero believes when players do return to work, they will be 'quite nervous' but also 'extra careful'.
"When one person is ill we will think 'oh what's happening here?'" he added. "I hope a vaccine will be found soon so that this all ends."

Meanwhile, Brighton striker Glenn Murray has slammed plans to restart, particularly those that include players wearing face masks.
"Face masks is going to be off-putting; it is not going to be natural," he said in a video press conference. "People will be ripping them off in games. It is quite farcical.
"I understand why people are desperate to get football on. It has to be done in a sensible way and in the right time and in a way that is going to keep everyone safe.
"There will be ambulances at training and games. Is it fair to take those from the NHS? I don’t know.It is not just two squads, there is a lot more involved and it puts more people at risk."
The veteran frontman continued: "I understand the public is desperate to get football back.
"But it is us that are going to be going out there and competing against other teams"

"We are not talking about guys in one community. We are talking about guys from all over the world who could be possibly carrying the disease. There are so many caveats.

"Everyone is in different situations. I have children at home. I wouldn’t want to jeopardise them. Some footballers have newly born children who might be more susceptible to getting the disease.
"Some are living with elderly parents. It is a really difficult situation to agree on."
