Legendary Lowell boxer and former welterweight champion “Irish” Micky Ward, famous for absorbing the toughest blows in the ring during his 15-year career, opened up to the Herald in an exclusive interview about the “terrible” symptoms of CTE he experiences on a daily basis.
“The stuff I go through every day worrying about if I’m going to get a headache, and how bad it’s going to be, kind of like, consumes you,” Ward said.
Ward gets severe headaches about five days a week, sometimes waking him up at night, he said. “It’s terrible. It makes you nauseous, it’s like a thump in the back of my head. You just feel drained all day,” Ward said.
