It was almost exactly like Hearns vs. Hagler... 4 rounds ... one guy who is stocky, and has a granite chin vs. the faster more skilled also heavyhitter, and the stockey guy wins. That being said after seeing the second fight again I think it was an amazing fight, and also one of the best ever had Castillo come in under 135.

It was a pretty cool fight...back up tape or whatever your'e watching & check out Corrales as soon as he get's dropped. Right when he sits up he gulps a big ole gulp of air like he just came up from a deep pool.

    Insane.

i dont see what the fuss is with the Corales-Castillo fight and how it's one of the best in history imo....all i saw were two skilled fighters throwing power shots at each other at the same tempo throughout the whole match.
Hagler-Hearns was ferocious and alot more explosive than Corales-Castillo 1....it had the audience going crazy because it was going so fast...not like the slow, controlled tempo that was Coralles-Castillo 1.
I guess i'm in the minority here but that's my 2 cents.....

And also imo, Castillo didn't win because of the weight....it was because he was always out of range when Coralles was about to attack. In and out, rather than just standing there and constantly training....
People thought that Morales would ko Barrera in their final encounter because of his 11 pound weight advantage....how wrong they were.

I don't think he won because of the weight, but it diminished the potency of the fight.

2 was a good fight. 1 was a very good fight. Hagler and Hearns was a GREAT fight.

I may get shot for this but I think the first Corrales Castillo match was almost as good as Hagler and Hearns but the ending was just the best thing ever!!!!!!! Hagler hearns may have been at a faster pace but it was not as long whereas these guys not only sustained it BUT the pace kept cramking up a gear ESPECIALLY from 7 to the end and like I said that was one of the most dramatic endings I have ever seen,I just did not see it coming!!!

I agree with a bit of what the Game says.

The reason the fight is such a fuss is that it's the closest that wev'e seen to Hagler Hearns in our generation.

I also like the fact both Corrales and Castillo where calculated, and throwing punches with thought... not just winging bombs like in the Hagler vs. Hearns fight... Their fight showed more skill, and just as much heart making just as good if not better as a fight.

CC back Wack, yeah that could be it,it was the Hagler Hearns of our generation although neither of them is close to those 2. I am not so sure about the third one though,Chico has the capabilities to win it easier but if he goes to war the wily hardened veteran Castillo is going to KO him. I want Chico to win though but I just wish he was smart for once rather than going to war allll the time! Look how well he did against Casamayor in the second fight and remember from the first fight, when there was just a bit of distance,I personally thought Chico looked superior! I mean why try to fight the guy at his own game, with his own strengths?!? Corrales needs to stop being so proud,he has already beaten him once at his own game, fight smart now!! and yes I am a big Corrales fan but I like JLC too!

I am not sure the fight is as good as Hagler/Hearns but it really does not matter. When two guys fight like this they deserve credit. Fights like Hagler/Hearns and Corrales Castillo and Gatti/Ward do not happen everyday As a matter of fact they happen maybe every 10 years.. Although some less reported fights are good, but they don't have the skill level of the top notch.

Not at all, I personally think it's a better fight than Hagler Hearns.. () Yeah, I really do. For one thing, Hagler Hearns was barely even competitive in comparison to this fight.. Yeah it was an amazing fight, insane tempo and both guys came to KO the other guy... But Hagler was never seriously hurt, other than being partially stunned for a couple of seconds in the first round. Hearns was landing hellacious punches but they still couldn't hurt Hagler, wheras anything MArvin landed clearly hurt thommy. Even though it was such a great fight, you could sort of sense what way it was going after the first round. With Castillo vs Corrales there was so much more ebb and flow, both guys were hurt multiple times, the fight went on much longer, there was contraversy, each fighter adapted at certain points, it went 10 rounds, and noone was in serious control for any length of time, it could have gone either way the whole time. I think it is clearly a better fight. Just my opinion though.

Totally agree my man,CC. Imagine a third fight at 147!! I'd LOVE to see that! I think I have seen the first fight at least(I promise!) 20 plus times and it still shocks me. In my opinion,it is one of the greatest fights of all time,if not,for me personally, the greatest and yes I have seen most of the other great fights too.
