    Default Boxing Gloves, Muay Thai

    Good day all,

I'm currently looking to buy some new gloves prob around 14/16oz just for work in the gym (sparring and on the bags)

And i cant help noticing that Muay thai gloves are far more interesting and fun than most regular boxing gloves being sold. My gym is currently on a break as well, not to mention id feel a bit of a div asking them there, so i thought id toss this one out to you guys!

Basically is there a difference, for general gym work would muay thai gloves suffice? or do i have to settle for another lovely pair of red everlasts again?

    cheers guys

your getting too pairs right? A pair of gloves for sparring and a pair for bag work? you have to use boxing gloves to Spar and I would get shot off by coach he I used my sparring gloves for bag work... knocks all the stuffing out of them and some one ends up getting hurt.

bag gloves from either are fine.
The difference I've found with sparring/fight gloves (though not exclusively) is that most boxing gloves have a stitched / fixed thumb and MT gloves aren't since you need the wrist flexibility and to be able to move your thumb for clinch work. Like I say NOT all brands have this.

    No need

Missy, are you saying that a pair of 160z bag gloves would do for sparring? some may be suitable but not all bag gloves... the ones I've got are heavy but the knucle part is rock solid.
