Default Mayorga to Knock Out Cotto in 2 Rounds

I have faith in his awkward style. You gotta always remember the awkward guys. They will surprise you sometimes. I also think Cotto is shot.

    Im with you!

If He can overwhelm a top pound for pound fighter in 2 im sure he can do it to a small, shop worn fighter who has no business this high in weight and who also got stunned by the non punching, hobbling, back peddling foreman.

The first 2 rounds will be hell for Cotto and Steward. No one has had an easy time in the first half of a fight with Mayorga but this time hes been held in his training camp and has just done 9 rounds against a genuine middle who he stopped.

Cotto wont deal with his strength and aggression and will either get stopped early trying to fire back or will gradually go in to his shell more and more until Steward pulls him out

Mayorga has a punchers chance, but I think that's about it. To actually give him a decent shot of winning rounds against Cotto is very wishful thinking imo. Were he in his prime, Id actually favour him to win convincingly, especially at this weight. But Mayorgas chin has been dented big time now and he's way more shot than Cotto, I'd be surprised if Miguel doesn't hurt him when he lands big. Ricardo is 37 has never taken care of himself, and fought Mosley at 154 over two years ago. He looked good for much of that fight but nonethless he was knocked out again.. He then took a year off and couldn't even make 160 for his last fight. The guy he fought there had been Koed several times consecutively before facing Mayorga. Watch him fight the corpse of Fernando Vargas and tell me that's a guy that will beat Cotto. He could barely even hurt Vargas who had been KO'ed brutally by Mosley when he had a lot more in the tank.. Mayorga hasn't actually stopped a good fighter since Vernon Forrest in 2003, and has BEEN knocked out by the 3 world class fighters he has faced since. I do think that since people are still giving Mayorga a chance kind of says people know Cotto wouldnt have beaten him in his prime as a WW.. But now? Only see Cotto taking this one.

Agree with much of what your saying, Mayorga would have ravaged Cotto in their primes at welterweight. Cotto would not have been able to impose his will on Mayorga.

I still feel that may be the case NOW. Mayorga has a real shot of hurting Cotto, then overwhelming him. And your crazy if you think little Miguel could have beaten Vargas at 166 lbs, despite Vargas being over the hill, that is still WAY too big of weight for Cotto and Vargas woulda connected and KO'd him.

154 however is a good weight for Cotto to be fighting Mayorga, I think its pretty fair for both men, and of course its for Cotto's world title.

Vargas and Mayorga fought at 166 because both men had/have trouble cutting weight, Vargas had a spare tire around his waist for christs sake! As far as lean mass theres no way Vargas was carrying more than 154 lbs, just like he was when Mosley stopped him twice at that weight! The fact that was Mayorgas last decent win even though he didnt hurt such damaged goods is all I wa s pointing out. There is NO way Cotto is there for the taking more than that version of Vargas was, but Mayorga couldnt get it done even without having to shed a pound. Now he has to cut weight after a long layoff and step up to the elite again, I dont expect it to go any differently than every other time he has done so. Mayorga is getting stopped in this one.

The reason Margarito beat Cotto is because Tony is a BIG CHEAT, without plaster of Paris Mayorga I now think gets destroyed in this one.

What do you have against Cotto? Did he shag your sister or something?

I like both guys, but I am backing Mayorga for sentimental reasons. I love his unorthodox style and the way he comes to fight no matter what. It's a fun matchup and there is no way we are going to see a dull fight. I can't wait for this one.

It might be a clinic even worst than the one DLH did give to him a few years back. Beside, if Cotto survived Margacheato potential loaded gloves in their match up, he'll survive Mayorga without the shadow of a doubt. Terrible mash out, Cotto ko 4.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Cotto TKO 8. Mayorga will come out swinging early but get picked off and slowly lose steam and Cotto's work to the body will make the last few rounds hard to watch because Mayorga will be standing still absorbing punishment and Cotto is going to land without taking anything in return...Cotto lasted a long time vs Margarito and his loaded wraps and vs Pacquiao with no trainer in his corner....I think Manny will bring him along nicely
