Default Cory Spinks vs. Arturo Gatti

Who wins? I don't think that Cory would spank Gatti quite as bad as Floyd Mayweather did, but I think he'd spank him pretty good.

Possibly a very late KO. 10-11 rounds.

Let's see what happens 1st between Gatti and Baldomir and also between Spinks and Roman Karmazin.

Personally I think that Karmazin will beat Spinks. He's the bigger guy and has been winning all of his fights lately against good opposition, while Spinks is moving up in weight, fighting at 154 lbs. for the 1st time, and is coming off a loss over a year ago to Zab Judah. Spinks lacks momentum and might be rusty and is basically a fast outside boxer, definitely not a slugger. Karmazin is 2" taller and is a very tough guy. Just found this:

I think that Gatti will surprise some people and outbox Baldomir. If Gatti wins he will certainly stay as a welterweight and try and set up a big fight with another top-rated guy at 147 lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if Gatti ends up fighting Margarito.

I don't think we will see Gatti-Spinks any time soon. If all the right things happened and they fought some time within the next year, probably at welterweight, I would predict a Spinks victory based on slick moves and skilled outside boxing. I think that Gatti is taylor-made for Spinks.

i think gatti would win. even now. spink's doesnt pack enough punch to trouble gatti and they would just bounce off his face. gatti by late TKO.

There is no way that Gatti wins a decision or that Spinks KO's him. Cory just doesn't have enough pop to hurt any of the top Welter. I don't know why the guy is even considering moving up in weight. I'd pick Cory for UD but give Gatti a chance to for late round KO if Cory can't handle the pressure for 12 rounds.

The fact that Cory couldnt hurt Gatti is irrelevent. He would still win virtually every round. Anyway its all academic as Gatti will be beaten by Baldomir.

    Rather thoughtful.

Gatti does have the puncher's chance. Spinks has way too much boxing skill for Arturo. I think he cuts him up pretty bad. Let's not forget that Cory Spinks whipped Mayorga for almost 12 rounds.

Cory doesn't now or ever has had the speed or power of either Mayweather or De La Hoya (the two biggest lopsided beatings Gatti has had), so he wouldn't be able to keep Gatti stuck in the headlights, he would come forward and tire down Spinks and eventually KO him worse than Judah did.

Why does everyone think that because someone may not have power that an opponent is just going to walk through them because they have a tough chin. Mayorga has better whiskers then Gatti and was faster and hit harder(natural 147 pounder) And he couldn't walk through Cory Spinks.

    Cory would destroy Gatti.

Gatti would not beat Spinks unless he got lucky.
