Default Briggs / Tua Separate bouts

    Briggs, Tua headline July 26!
    Gotham Boxing presents "Heavyweight Extravaganza!"
Promoter Cedric Kushner of Gotham Boxing presents "Heavyweight Extravaganza!" on July 26th at the Grand Ballroom in New York City featuring heavyweights Shannon Briggs and David Tua in separate bouts. Briggs (47-4-1, 41 KOs) will face Darroll Wilson (27-8-2, 21 KOs)in the main event, while Tua (44-3-1, 38 KOs) will go against an opponent to be named in the co-main event. Briggs, a native of Brooklyn, is ranked as the #7 WBC, #11 WBA, #6 WBO and #10 IBF contender. Although Tua is unranked, he is still considered a force in the heavyweight division who can once again become a contender.

Of course... Tua vs. some dummy.

Yea, it's almost sad they couldn't at least get them to face each other..

I wonder if shannon is gonna come in Heavy again, I see his point that he wants to bomb everybody out of there and he thinks weighing more gives him more of an edge but he needs to wake up for when he faces somebody who won't stand in front of him he's gonna be too big to move and box like he could when he was 220. he needs to stop believing his hype and get the weight down.. I really was hopins Jeff wouldn't let him get away with that.

I wonder why Briggs is taking a chance on blowing his title shot by taking this fight? If he loses, bye bye goes the title shot.

I really don't know if its the money or what!

One thing is for sure....him and Peter both need to learn that there is a point where you need to go up to the C, D, and then A level fighters. You can't expect to learn everything you will need to know by taking tons of D level fights.

I agree with yall on a few things: 1. WTF is Briggs thinking weighin 270, that is ridiculous, I seen an interview with him after his last fight, and he plans to stay that way! 2. Tuaman and Briggs ought to be fighting each other, not seperate victims 3. Briggs and Peter should start fighting guys we have at least heard of. But least they aren't fighting 3-7 guys like Mesi.

He just fought a 6 round bout with a guy who was 3-7 with 1KO on FNF. Kinda excusable because of his condition, but it was still kinda ridiculous, went the distance too. I honestly hope he stops fighting, no sense risking his life.

Ok I am on the same page in regards to the 3-7 guy (his record). I thought it was some kind of deal like when Foreman took on 5 guys in one afternoon 31 years ago in some glorified exhibition/publicity stunt. Yeah Mesi should call it a day. His last bout versus a faded contender was Jirov and we know how bad he looked in the last few rounds of that and what it did to his brain then. Imagine what a real hw like Wlad would do as opposed to a glorified ex-cruiserweight champ.

There is a big IF here, and that is IF Tua is fit he will knock out everyone around at the moment, and I do mean everyone.
Not that that is saying very much though.
When Ruiz is considered a serious contender... well...
IF he is out of shape it will be a pointer to a lack of motivation and then he may as well hang up his gloves because he's never gonna tag anyone with that massive hermit crab claw unless he's fit enough to get his shots off.
    I question Tua's desire.
IF he has some he can do it, but IF he's just back to pay off the lawyers bills after a long legal battle with his former manager, the rip off artist Kevin barry, that forced him into idleness then I daresay he won't be worth watching.
I hope it's the positive IF because Tua is exciting and he's a rare thing, he's a genuine knock out artist.
IF Tua is fit, he'll knock Briggs out of the solar system.

Last time they appeared on the same bill it was the night of the young heavyweights when Briggs got knocked out by Wilson and Tua knocked out Ruiz .

Now all these years later they appear on " night of the washed up hasbeens " but it will still make for interesting viewing . Wish they were fighting each other though

Oh so Briggs and Wilson have history together...I guess that makes it a little better. I would have rather seen these fights (before he gets a title shot, eventhough it's just a warm up fight for Wlad to fight Brock)

    Briggs-McCline II
    Briggs-Peter
    Briggs-Tye Fields
    Briggs-Ruiz
    Briggs-Krasniqi
