    Default TUF is a waste

Does anyone agree that TUF is a waste, why not actully get a good amature fighters trying to make it instead of getting somewhat ok fighters and have a weekly show to get ratings and make money? I rather see great fighters instead of a fighter that won a contract from the tv show.

I agree. I've said for a while now that you won't (and shouldn't have to) find talent off a TV show, and the fighters who SHOULD be in the UFC will get there through normal channels. The first TUF was pretty good, a novel idea, a few decent fighters, but since then, rather unimpressive and very played out. Sometimes less really is more.

Dana White just cares about ratings and money, not good fights or great fighters.

I don't think the point of TUF is to get good fighters in the org. Its to get the UFC name out there and build a fan base. As well as building a fanbase for certain fighters. Most of the TUF fighters end up fighting in the UFC anyway. I liked the first season, didn't watch the second and thought the third was pretty lame. The fourth is called "last chance" and its filled with mostly seasoned veterans and it ought to be really good. There are some really good names on the list. I just like being able to watch MMA on tv on a weekly basis even if it isn't the best competition.

"The Ultimate Figher" is a reality TV series that is basically a series of elimination fights, with the final winners of each respective weightclass winning contracts to fight in the UFC.

It is on the American cable channel "Spike TV" (a channel devoted to guys)

Oh, thanks. I didn't realize that's what it was. The live in deal with the teams and the wanabe fighters, most of whom don't seem to have any idea how to fight even though they've been immersed in it for weeks....

It never ceases to amaze me the complete lack of skill most of the TUF fighters show. Ross Pointon (while being an awesome personality) is top 5 ranked in Britain or something, yet he has absolutely ZERO ground game, and his striking consists entirely of haymaker after haymaker. I've seen amateurs in their first fights with better skillsets than half of the TUF contestants.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

Yeah. like one poster already wrote. TUf is mainly about ratings and spreading UFC to a wider audience. If a TUF fighter just happens to be good then so much the better!
