Default Amir i would of struck gold

Amir Khan believes "there is no doubt" that he would have struck gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics had he not turned professional last year.

The 19-year-old lightweight, from Bolton, who claimed silver in Athens two years ago, said: "If I had stayed amateur I would definitely have won the 2008 Olympics. If I had gone to Beijing, there is no doubt I definitely would have won the gold medal easily.

"I was only 17 in Athens but now I'm stronger and physically and mentally getting better as a fighter. I don't think there would have been any doubt that I would have won the gold medal."

Khan, who has set his sights on becoming a world champion after winning all eight of his fights since turning professional, added: "I could be a professional champion by the time the Olympics come around and that was the chance we decided to take.

"I know I can win a world title and if I do that before the 2008 Olympics it will prove it was the right decision (to go professional). I know I can do it. It's 2006 now and I can easily win a world title within two years."

Khan hopes to take on former amateur opponent Craig Watson in his next fight at the Bolton Arena on September 2.

Please stop posting all this Amir Khan bullshit.

He's a twat with mediocre skills who will be beaten comfortably, and hopefully painfully when he steps up in class to fight somebody half decent.

Well sure he would have... I mean the olympics bouts don't even go over four rounds right, and he has already proven within a shadow of a doubt that he is the most dominant fighter to ever live over the span of four rounds . I heard Mayweather saying he thinks he could do well enough to finish just behind Amir and get the silver, if he were allowed to abandon the pro game and enter the 2008 olympics himself... What a cocky piece of shit huh?

Were people saying the same thing about Naz? The difference was that Naz had power.

Are you now Amir Khan's official PR person or something? Everytime the guy says anything, you're on it like a flash, sharing it with the world. And one can't help noticing a certain audible similarity between Emma and Amir....are you hiding behind there you wee northern fella? You can come out if you want to!

I think Khan is OK. He's got his feet on the ground (at the moment) and has loads of natural talent.

He is a work in progress - we'll have to see how he turns out.

I don't think we can make value judgements on what someone is actually like as a person from our lying newspapers (or posters who seem to have something against him)?

It is the papers who overhype this guy - they will build him up and then break him up, all for our entertainment.

I know Amir is no floyd may yet, but they are bringing him on nice and slowly, ive seen all of floyds fights and his first 6/7 fights were against bums to, it is time for Amir to step up a little now tho, i dont like or dislike the guy, but he is british so we should cut him a little slack, I think, or maybe not?

Truth is i feel sorry for Khan!

before u begin to hate him, put your self in his position... 17 years old, silver med in the Olympics... it will go to your head; that is where a good promoter come in, but warren is not doing enough!

the way it is going, the only hope Khan has is beating some bum champion, making some easy defences before he actually fights a good fighter.

Personally i think warren needs to be sending khan out to he USA now! where they don't give two f***s what medal he won, but will cheer him based on his skill.

I mean for Christs sake, the boy gets more atmosphere in the UK, than the main event fighters. Before you start hating him, look at his age, what hes doing, and who's having him do it...

Put the BOY in a country who's only interest is how he fights, and i think he will wise the f*** up; and show how good he really is.
