What exactly is a Chav???

Forgive this utter ignorance, but I keep hearing this term from the Brits on the forum and ive no idea what it means nor represents. Ive not returned home for 4 years, but could be awoken to a nasty surprise when I come back home in September. SO folks what are these chav specimens and what does it all mean? Do you just walk with a cane and beat them mercilessly with it before leaving the country again? Tell me more, fellow forum dudes and dudettes! What are these creatures??

hang around in massive groups, 4 or more at least and there hard enough for a fight.

challenge em wen there alone and you realise how fast they can run, which also helps when shoplifting.

no real desire or drive to sucseed in life.

I studied up in Manchester and we had Scallies...they wore tracky bottoms tucked into their socks and wore fake jewelry around their necks. Utter dipsticks IMO and if that has now spread around the country then that means you lot are paying too many taxes for no return!! You have no violence or mentalist kid thing in Korea!

A chav? A chav is a fad name snobs throw about because it's trendy and the media will milk for all its worth.

Its usually used to describe a member of Britain's Sub class (i would say working class but 99% of them have never worked before...)

The word Charver (Charv shortened) has been used in Newcastle to describe the behavior of that of an arsehole for as long as I can remember and I'm guessing that the recent trend of 'chavs' and 'hoodies' comes from that. It's always been used to described a way of acting... there's generally obviously fashion trends between these people, but its never been lumped simply with the way you dress in theway 'chav' has.

What ever it came from, I think it's ignorant and has been done to death, it's boring as fuck.
