Default How much crap is this!

A couple of weeks ago a mate of mine fought and got knocked out cold! BUT hes a welterweight and his welterweight opponent pulled out and he was offered a go with a middleweight...it should of been an exhibition but it was a real fight. My mate outboxed the middleweight for most of the first then at the end got caught with a big shot and down he went. Thats bullshit, how could they let that happen? My mates trainer was unable to make it so he wasnt there to guide him but i know if i had of been there, there would of been no way he was stepping in between those ropes.

can't remember what the division limits are (how many KGs between the biggest and smallest) but this happens in amatuer boxing

When you say out cold, was he bad? tell him not to spar for a week and work on conditioning, can takea while to heal.

Let me put it this way...he was out cold, he had to wake up...he didnt know what had happened. He didnt know he had been floored, he didnt remember what had happened. Thats bullshit, 7kilos difference is a load of crap. My mate had been on a 3 fight winning streak since going to a new trainer, trained his ass off...then has to fight a guy two weight classes above. If this is allowed in amateur fights then theres some work to be done in this system.

A liberty was taken and thats for sure. Someone trying to be clever for egos sake and ruining someones time in sport, through bad matchmaking. An absolute cunt. I remember one matchmaker years ago from vauxhall motors Luton. They had a German team over, and he wouldnt let a match take place with one of my lads and a german Boy because my boy was to good when I asked why, he said the german could have got a good hiding in Germany instead of traveling a 1000 miles to get one. I liked that and He always got my lads for his shows, He was a man you could trust

Yeah my mate was shattered, hes been training his ass off and then he gets knocked out. He didnt really know if he wanted to continue boxing after that but i think he will.

That horrible bro! lesson's learned are the one's that hit your pocket book or your chin . never take a fight like that when its all mucked 2 weight classes you say? Fight should have never happened mate . nothing worse then bad match making to ruin a fighters confidence, lets hope your mate can realize that the fight was stacked ,and lesson learned, but don't dwell on it . continue on

Really strange this. Here in holland you can also fight against people in a weightclass one above or one under (thus a lot of kg difference is possible) BUT you're not allowed to step in the ring without your trainer or a licences match-trainer appointed to you by your own trainer. What's also strange, is that the trainer must have known who the opponant of your mate was, and must have known his weight. At least approx. (given that the opponants' trainer has been truthfully on the forehand).

Strange cause of events, this is. Best of luck with your mate!

7 kilos is only a stone so the weight shouldnt have made all that much difference must have just got caught with an lucky shot and this could have happened if he fought someone the same weight

i beleave that it is 3kilos is the max u aloud higher or lower, they are not alound to be to bigger weight difference for the safty of the boxers,
i have personally been miss matched before on my first fight , it was the lad 7th bout and my first , i weighted in at 71k and he weighted in at 74k giving him weight and experiance advantage, i though my heart out that night giving it every thing i had , got hit by sum Big body shots that made it extremly hard to breath in the first round but i kept fighting by the third round i was dead on my feet got hit with 3 strong uppercuts at the end of the round managed to stay on my feet but was not quite with it, and realy disoriantated.
for the week after the fight i was in alot of pain with my ribs and could'nt eat properly as i couldnt fully close my jaw.i found this realy damaged my confidense and i found it hard to get back into training after.

sparring is alot different to in the ring , i spar with ppl alot lighter and heavy than me , but while ur sparring there is more respect for ur oppnante and u dont go in there throwing every thing uve got if they are lighter and u know u can knock them out , as they dont learn any thing from being knocked out! also u can learn alot of a lighter fighter as they can be faster on there feet and punch quicker, i tend to throw with less power when sparring the smaller lads but can learn stuff from them that i can use against my own weight class.
    thats just my opinion
