Default If Valuev fought James Toney...

This fight is interesting to me because of the sheer size difference. What do you think would happen?

Laughed my ass off!! too funny!!!
But seriously!!! 7'3" vs what?? 5'9"
mind you..they weigh the same! 365??
im surprised this isnt a hot post!!!
    VERY VERY interesting fight!!
If Toney could do it!! wow!!!
BUT i think since he couldnt hurt peters he couldnt hurt valuev
and valuev has decent punch output so i pick the giant...
    ...and his forehead

Toney is the way better boxer but the size difference would definitely come into effect. Valuev isn't a heavy puncher and toney has a really good chin so valuev by decision seems like a safe bet unless toney throws some mike tyson's punch-out star punches.

yeah the pure size differential alone would make it so hard for toney to beat this guy...would like to see it though...yeah i dont know why no one really wants to touch this post...maybe cuz im still the new guy...

....I think it's just because it's an odd pairing.

I am not sold on Nicolay Valuev, he's been wobbled by some fighters with little to no power

James Toney is good but he's not what he used to be, his work in the ring isn't as good as it used to be and his defense is breaking down a little more with each coming fight.

    Deciding Factors
    1) Valuev's lack of power

    2) James Toney's weight

    3) Height disparity could work for or against either of them.

    4) Fouls, Valuev much like Sam Peter rabbit punches

I'd say it goes the distance and if Toney trains hard enough he can take it

I would have to go with James Toney.I think he would make an effort to chop down Valuev. One fight I would love to see is Toney vs Mike Tyson now. If Mike gets in shape. Would be interesting.

Mike Tysons style precludes his continued success.
the fast bob and weave takes too much energy, impossible for an older guy esp tyson.
some styles age well, esp power fighters like forman or technical fighters like holmes or lewis. Toneys strong suit is skill and slickness which dont deminish quickly with age unlike a pure quickness or speed fighter.
I think that toney would beat him sooooo easily maybe all 12 rounds.

Landmine I think you are right. Mike cannot seem to put up a sustained attack anymore and he is not that durable. The prefight press conferences would be more entertaining than the fight. P4P Who do you guys think is a better fighter all time? James or Tyson? James I think is better, but Mike punched so hard. But I would say James.

I think even a mid 90's Mike would have a tough time with James.....If you're going to bust Toney up you need to do it with straight punches and not hooks which is why I favored Toney over Sam Peter.

James rolls with hooks and he's so short going to the body is hard.....which is strange since his belly is so big you would figure you couldn't miss it.

Cant really rate Mike as a P4P fighter because he only fought in one division. Only great fighters he went up against, he lost to. JT is a much much better fighter pound for pound. Definitely agree that the presser for that fight would be one for the ages...you say it would be more entertaining than the actual fight? I think the press conference between Toney and an off-his-meds Mike Tyson would be more entertaining than just about any fight!

Toney is such an good fighter, I am sure he could do something with Valuev, but it would be an unpredictable fight. how can we predict an outcome? The question mark is Valuev not Toney. Is Valuev fought a few more title fights and proved he has legit power and can be a force, than maybe Toney would not have a very good chance.

Maybe toney could use his (giant valuev's) sack as a double speed bag!!! ala Golota!!

I really want to find out if this guy is for real! PLEASE!! will someone teach the guy how to stand up? how to jab!!! PLEASE!!!! if he stood up with a decent jab/hook and a right hand..can you imagine!!??
how about this.... who CAN he beat??

for sure he beats Briggs!! better punch output and briggs loses strength and size advantage which tires him faster! i say briggs heads for the dressing room for his asthma puffer b4 round 6!
So he should beat briggs and then fight abunch of bums, hold onto his now 2 belts for dear life. Go around proclaiming himself the only REAL champion and say everyone else is too scared to fight him. Gain HUGE noteriaty in the US. Then move to Japan and do TV commercials with BOB SAPP!!

I think James Toney would have beaten Tyson had they fought whenever....Toney started as a pro in 1988....about the time Tyson began his steep and steady decline.

So by the time Mike got out of prison James Toney could have beaten him in a fight
