Good call on the Vitaly analogy. I'm sure the Vitaly contingent will claim Vitaly's cuff injury was life threating compared to Lacy's.

tough break for Lacy. Knowing this, the guy did show some stones hanging in like he did. I cant say the HBO team bashed him like you say. They just gave honest opinions judging by his performance in the fight. No one knew of his injury at the time.

Hope he can heal up, and get back on track.

Agreed. Lacy obviously wasnt the same after the 2nd round, but he worked at it and kept trying. The man has heart...its a huge shame for him to out for another year though, especially at 29....

I had this injury a few years back and let me tell you its no cake walk. lots of rehab and rest. ! It takes longer then the 12 months from a mental stand point, its in the back of your mind and takes some time to get comfortable again. . Damn shame ! CC for the articale !

In shock. Really am. I mean as if he wasn't tried enough by the Calzaghe loss. He's going to have to have some real thick skin and a hell of a work ethic to get back.

A name just hit me, and it kind of takes me back to even say this...but could Lacy be the next Teddy Reid? I hope not and if he comes back after dedicating himself to get better, he will be fine and a better fighter. If he breaks...then...

Yet people were fine when they bashed Mayweather for getting the injury against Castillo..., and he still came back not that long after to beat Castillo decisively. I have respect for both Lacy and Mayweather for being able to fight through that which IMO is worse than a broken hand.

Damn bad luck for Jeff, a shame as he's one of the most likeable guys in boxing.

The only positive is that it his poor showing in retrospect was probably due to injury more than anything else.

Lacy is a real fighter and will doubtless come back from this, and I'm sure the vast majority of fight fans will wish him well.

Lacy has an iron heart, so hopefully he can get through this.

I don't think he came into the ring prepared enough.
Not prepared, so more prone to injuries.

He wasn't his usual ripped self that night, he changed trainers, and he had some problems coming into the fight.

Vitali's was knee ligament, but I admire Jeff's heart for carrying on, you can't question his spirit after being completly outclassed by Calzaghe, however I think you can question his ability. He's not lived up to the hype, and fair enough, its not his fault he's not as good as people thought, its not like he hasn't tried. Maybe next time Jeff, although 2 comebacks in as many fights is never a good sign, he'll be 30 before he can fight again.

Yeah, rotator cuffs a bitch. I think that's what happened to Vitali in the Byrd fight when he quit, so fair play to Jeff for showing some balls for a second fight in succesion.

Won't be back for some time, I'm sure Kostya Tszyu was out for over 18 months when he did his.
