Default I like Jorge Arce but this is getting ridiculous

    www.fightnews.com

Now he's fighting Julio David Roque Ler The guy's never fought outside of Argentina and the one time he really stepped up he lost to Munoz.

This fight would be allright if Arce was just fighting one hard fight after another. But he's done nothing since the second Hussein fight. Rosendo Alvarez used to be a very good fighter but he was way past his best by the time of the Arce fight. He fought Rivas twice and Makepula, both just solid guys and they were old too. Now this guy.

Why no big fights? Why not a fight with Vic, unless Vic is just bluffing it shouldn't be a hard fight to make cause he calls out Arce practically every other day. I'm pretty sure Arum will never make a fight with Parra, but the Vic one could happen and it would be a great fight.

I don't think Arce is ducking, but I do think that his promoters realize that he's already a star and that they can parade him out on his motorcycle against practically anybody with a heartbeat and his fans will still show up at his fights or watch them on HBO. I think they don't want to risk the money there making off of him by putting him in with a dangerous guy, at least not for a while.

I know he's got a ton of fans, I like to watch him fight, but I hear people talk about him being on the edge of the P4P lists and his opposition lately just isn't cutting it for a guy who's supposed to be on that level.

Arce is doing the right thing here....lol,naaa,who am I kidding,I may love the guy but I agree with you two, this is becoming unacceptable. I also agree that it's more the promoters, remember, they are the ones that make the fights happen. I'm sure Arce will have a big fight somewhere in 2007 though,he has to!! I still think he is on the edge of P4P lists simply because although he has not fought the HUGE names and he needs one sooner or later, the opponents he has been facing have not been bums, with most having really good records and being tough opponents.

Though Roque Ler IS NOT the thoughest opponent out there for Arce I personally can't complain, he waited for almost 1 full year to fight Pongsaklek to clear up that whole Interim shet!! and both the WBC & Pongsaklek just jerked around the whole time.....
No one EVER complained and complains about Pongsaklek I have and for that I don't even bother with Pongsaklek any more to me it's like he doesn't exsist.... As I said before he could hit 100 fights won and I could give a shet!! about his record....

Though I would like for Arce to make a BIG fight theres one thing you gotta understand....

    1. Top Rank already had the venue (Honda Center) set aside (No fighters were named at that time)
    2. Taking into consideration that other Top Rank fighters have just fought or are set to fight, Arum felt that Arce would be the appropiate fighter to showcase on that night.
    3. As I read and understood a BIG fight was being set up for Arce but when Valuev excused himself out of the card, talks of the Arce fight fell through.

Soooo, Honda Center (not a major venue) + No Valuev = Less Money

Why would Arum set up a BIG fight for Arce under these circumstances? When he could hold that BIG fight that there was talks of in Vegas, Staples Center etc. etc. etc. + with another BIG name....
If this fight with Roque Ler was in the undercard of a major card then I'd be pissed but under the circumstances listed. It's OK.... If other lesser Champs get away with it then so can he....

Another thing if I'm not mistaken Tokuyama has just retired and relinquished the WBC belt, which now Mijares (Iterim Champ) & Kawashima are now set to fight for.... When Arce beat Makepula it was an Eliminator for that belt (WBC) Soooo.... Instead of staying inactive and sitting around 'till these 2 settle this hes gonna take this fight with Ler.....
Better then staying inactive and then looking like Margarito come crunch! time!! Rusty & out of sync...

You really wanna cry foul..... Check out Pongsakleks record...

I feel you. I don't acknowldege Pongsaklek, either. I seen a couple of his fights. And he's no bum. But he not as good as he's made out to be either. Which is why he has no problem staying home, sitting on his title and fighting obscure contrymen. The fighter I want to see Arce in with is Lorenzo Parra. But I would settle for a Vic fight (even though I think Vic is overrated). Some big fights are hard to make but i don't blame Arce for that. All he wants to do is fight. He's proven that many times. Hell this man fought Adonis Rivas twice, in less than 2 months just to settle some unfinished business.

By the way Mick, you rolling out there?

Nah! After Valuev fell through, I said the ONLY reason I would go would be depending on the Pavlik & Arce opponents....

Pavliks fighting Zertuche and Arces fighting Roque... Not really something I wan't to buy ringside tickets for you know what I mean?
Rather put that cash aside and add it to the 'Cinco De Mayo Partida De Madre a la Mayweather' Looking forward to this...
Or if a good fight card comes about out here in So. Cal. I'll just use the money towards that.

I'm going to be in Anaheim from 1/20 to 1/28. So I'm actually considering it. We'll see what happens.

Well I agree with the quality of opp being unexceptable and I love Arce as much as anyone..IMO he is one of the most exciting guys out there today...But remember two things while criticizing him...
    1. Just because a guy calls out another we all know that means nothing in this sport...Promoters and managers decide not the fighters. That is just a fact.

    2. The money at that weight is not all that great even for world champions. You have to fight more often and a pay day is a pay day.
Arce VS Darchinyan will happen when the time is right

Good point on #2 about the cash flow being slower down there...

Honestly, I just expect more out of Arce than Pongsalek, whether that's fair or not.

I don't really care about Pongsalek, I assume he'll keep doing what he's doing and retire without fighting one of the real big names. And I won't really care when he does retire.

But Arce is such an exciting fighter, and he could do a lot for the lower weights. I've always liked the lower weights, there are great fights at 112 and 115, but you rarely get to see the lower weight fighters on TV.

And here's Arce, who CAN get on TV, who's becoming a BAD regular, and its nothing but a waste of time with him fighting the guys he's been fighting. There's gotta be somebody out there he can fight, it doesn't necessarily have to be Vic. Although that would be a huge fight to me.

Arce's not a ducker IMO. Like I said before I think its his management wanting to make as much money as possible with as little risk as possible. But its getting frustrating, I love watching Juan Diaz fight but he's quickly losing me as a fan with all these scrubs he's fighting. I just want to see Arce in a big fight cause he's such an exciting fighter.

I don't know much about Roquer, but his only loss was a points loss to Alexander Munoz. Who's one of the hardest hitters in lower divisions. Hopefully he'll put up some kind of fight against Arce

Agreed, I'm sure theres someone out there whos more marketable the Roquer even slightly... Theres just too many things that come into play...
I don't know much about Roquer, but his only loss was a points loss to Alexander Munoz. Who's one of the hardest hitters in lower divisions. Hopefully he'll put up some kind of fight against Arce
Good eye... Though we may not recognize Roquer at 1st glance remember that doesn't mean he can't boogie.... We'll just have to wait and see....
