Default Was Vitali Klitschko K.O.'d by Maskaev in the amateurs?

I don't know where the hell I read this, but I thought I read an article that stated that he was K.O.'d by Maskaev in the amateurs. Can anyone confirm this? I'm uncertain whether it is true. Thanks.

Vitali was stopped by Oleg in the amateurs....Oleg says KO and Vitali stands by his "I have never been knocked down pro or amateur"

I figure the refs stopped the fight as Oleg hurt Vitali...this is amateur boxing so refs stop fights sooner than usual

Thanks for the information, brother. I thought I remembered reading that somewhere before. Apparently there is a score to settle. Just unfortunate that it hasn't materialized in more of an appropriate manner.

    and a CC to you

I just think right now Oleg is going to be lucky to make it half way through the fight....you don't brawl with Vitali!!!!!

Also not to make excuses I think Vitali was JUST starting boxing when they fought in the amateurs...and I can see NO WAY Maskaev beats him now.

I do feel bad for Sam Peter having to wait but I am sure there are other options for him out there and I am sure if the IBF ranked him that Wlad would fight him again as it woul dmake for more money than Ray Austin. But honestly I would like to see Sam Peter-Shannon Briggs

No it wasn't a knock down but Vitaly was hurt..Yeah Sanders is a quick guy....and has a hell of a punch....Not to mention a pretty good chin....He isn't a spring chicken either.....If Sanders took the sport seriously when he was younger...He could have been a top guy in the division.....He has the tools but boxing is more of a hobby for him than a living.....Looking at him you would never guess he's capable as he is

that's boxing...there are a ton of guys that could have been great....remember the mid to late 80's Tyson?? or if Gerry Cooney could have stayed away from the bottle before the Holmes fight? If Tex Cobb had any boxing ability at all......

Looked more like Sanders pushed him whilst he was rocked and leaning forwards.

yeah...and if you look in Vitali's eyes you can see he's no where near out on his feet....he was hurt but not as bad as the announcers would have you think....by the way, those announcers sucked major balls!!!!!

theBESTP4P was at the Corrie Sanders vs Vitali beat down at the Staples Center! it happened so quick that everyone thought Corrie knocked Vitali down but the ref was so quick to waive it as a NO knockdown so we all took the refs word obviously. Vitali gained more momentum and Sanders kept losing gas as the rounds went on. Vitali started busting out some wannabe ALI like moves by dancing around Corries later haymakers. I have to admit i was much entertained i love the big VITALI he makes great exciting fights despite his technical flaws blah blah.

you know who else was at this fight that night too? the cast of ENTOURAGE!!!!!! they used the footage for an episode in season 1. it pretty much sums up the whole fight in that episode too!
