YES!!! This guy was the only commentator worse than Lennox (amazing that that's possible).

I'd be shocked if Merchant is fired. When you've been around as long as he has, you usually earn the right to pick when you're going to leave, you don't get fired. I think boxingtalk is getting slightly ahead of itself.

Kellerman is the clear heir apparent to Merchant. When Merchant leaves, Kellerman moves up to work with Lampley.

Teddy is top shelf ! that would be a good hire ! .. The only problem with Sugar is he strays a lot, trying to be funny all the time rather then stay on topic and with live boxing going on, not sure he would be the man.

I think that Dan Dierdorf would be fantastic as would Alex Wallau

Kellerman & Merchant shouldn't do shows together, it's too much opinion and not enough middle of the road.

Atlas also states his opinion a lot so throwing him in the mix would be bad but alone or with another more subtle personality would be good.


I liked Al Bernstein, I thought he was ok.

But here's the strategy: 1 Comentator (blow by blow guy, asks the questions, has no personal opinion), 1 color man (like Larry Merchant or Max Kellerman an expert with opinions about everything and does this without being personally involved in the sport as a competitor or trainer), 1 expert who gets knowledge from actually being involved in the sport like Manny or Foreman.

He ended up being charged with nothing but a small misdemeanor and he pleaded no contest. That whole incident is over.
I'm not sure how they could justify firing him. And why would they want to?

Kellerman is loose at the lip , Max is all opinion and very little fact. He was on a radio show the other night saying that” 7 out of 10 heavyweights are juicing up on steroids“. what a reckless statement. Where does he get that number from ? Max just pulls them out of his ass and delivers it as fact. He is a complete idiot and owes every prize fighter an apology for making such a reckless accusation. Kellerman is just a cunt ! plain and simple ! HBO needs to boot him ASAP. HBO's Creditability is hampered by having Kellerman on board.

what you got lose mate ? I say go for it ! get a few fight vids go to the studio , take the commentary out of the mix , put your round by round in , and listen to it. be sure to send me a copy , I will enjoy !

I didnt think he was that bad, hes pretty un-biased and level-headed. But he is also boring, and doesnt really get excited, and doesnt have the boxing knowledge to throw out. I think he was a football player....

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that Papa sucks, but I'm certainly not excited about him joining HBO. He's just your typical play-by-play guy, he doesn't bring anything interesting to the table.
I've been campaigning for years for Brian Kenny to get an HBO gig, but I know he'd never leave ESPN unless he got Lampley's job, and Lampley isn't going anywhere. Kenny, Max, and Lennox could be a good BAD team, as long as Lennox talked as little as possible.

Lampley is going to blow his load all over the ring apron if Oscar pulls off the upset.
At the very least, he's going to get misty-eyed when he talks about Oscar during the preview special.

I don't mind Bob Papa, since he left ESPN 2 they've gone way downhill, Tessitore's not very good and then you've got Atlas.

Anyway, he's definitely better than Charles
