Default Why do people choose to ride bikes?

Why do people choose to ride bikes?

I rode as a kid and I lost control.
My best friend was on the back and when I lost control I jumped off and he was left on the back still hanging on to the seat strap as the bike slid down street. He was scrapped up pretty bad and the entire left side of his leg and arm were tore up. It was just nasty.
I never rode again. I have jumped on the back but never me at the controls.

How do you guys feel about ridding?

I know JT_Rock AKA Soprano Jr rides.

I think it is more dangerous now than it was before. More people = more traffic and that it make's even more risky IMO. Plus bikes have too much speed these days.

Yea, I know. I am still on the Corrales trip.

I guess this affects me because I had a friend who ran into a wall doing about 100 and of course he was killed instantly. I have always hated bikes. I guess there is sort of a love hate thing.

I hope it does make you think.
    To me bikes are dangerous.
I almost hit one on the freeway a few years ago. I consider myself a decent safe driver and very alert. This guy came out of no where flying like a bat out of hell just as I was about to cross over to the right lane. I was so thankfull that I did not hit him but it was so damn close. That is another experience I will never forget.

Living in Wales we always get the double plague on our roads every bank holiday, and every weekend in the summer, which is motorbikes and caravans. Caravans just slow the whole roads down, but bikes are always the ones getting into real trouble. Just about every weekend in the summer you'll read on the news about some guy in their 40s or 50s from Birmingham, Manchester or Liverpool who came down to Wales to tear about on their big shiny new bikes, and end up not able to control the power and hit walls and overcook it in corners.

If the learning courses for these things were better, then maybe there'd be less crashes, but I feel that the temptation and thrill of riding a motorbike very fast will always be there for some people. I don't ride myself, but am currently considering it to save cash on the fuel of driving a car.

its the closest thing we can get to freedom. Its a great feeling, its like your flying. Its quite peaceful. There is nothing like it.
I ride, have for awhile. It is dangerous, you have no walls to protect you like in a car, no airbags, seatbelts..Nothin except a helmet. Sometimes people lose respect for the machine, and then the machine reminds you how much respect it deserves. Whether its the rider, or someone in a car. I miss diego already, just knowing that i wont be able to see him give it his all anymore, knowing that he had alittle one on the way, and that his family wont have him leaves me with a heavy heart. Its to bad. 29years old is way to young. it really is sad.

Nobody can really blame a bike for an accident, its always human error i guess. I still can't believe chico is gone, I'm sure he wouldn't want anyone blaming the bike for what happen. It was a fatal accident, us fans lost a modern warrior. And Chico never blame anything for his lose so lets not blame a bike. Lets remember how chico lived, Not how he died...

Thats a bit like saying "Why do peolpe box?".

    Danger=Fun for some people.

There is also a saying "taste death, live life"

Some people push that to far with bad results.

i think bikes are really hard to control in comparison with a car in my opinion especially at speed they slip easy on wet or loose surfaces and are just basically dangerous i think

i can see the thrill in it though

I knew a girl whose brother came off an exit ramp going at a high speed and ran into the back of a streetsweeper. It was around 2 am when it happened so I guess he assumed the roads would be empty.

I've never cared for motorcycles. When I was a kid I had a minibike but as I grew older I grew more scared of bikes instead of less.

Not just the loony drivers, but those who are driving while doing a dozen other things besides concentrating on driving. I've been riding for 40 years and, fortunately, have never had an accident. With bikes, it's defensive driving, I see someone signalling to turn left from the oncoming lane or pulling out of a side street I always prepare myself for the probability they might turn in front of me or pull out in front of me. Before anyone lectures me on the dangers of riding a bike I once did CPR on a woman who hit a car head on. She had a fractured skull, broken neck, leg broken in about 9 places we revived her, but she died two days later. I also did CPR on a female passenger who was riding on a bike when some old guy pulled out of a side street. The bike went under the car and she was killed. Every time I saw something like this I had second thoughts about ever riding again.

Coralles wasnt riding responsibly at the time. Accedents do happen and this was an accident but it could have been prevented had he not been riding over 100 mph. A lot of motorcycle deaths could have been prevented, and this is one of those sad cases.
