Default I miss the Old Roy Jones

Seriously, has there ever been anyone in this game besides Ali that possessed such a lethal combination of power, speed, and showboat tactics as Roy Jones in his prime? In those days, not only was the ring entrance entertaining, but so was the way that this guy would knock his opponents out. There's no one out there like this right now. Pbf has the potential but doesn't have the guts to go for it anymore. Since the Old Roy left, something is missing in boxing in my opinion.

you could be on to something here....If PBF would unite a division he would get much more props as being dominant....I think PBF is one of the greatest ever...but you still need to lock up a division to go down with the ALL-TIME Greats....

Absolutely...And the only division I would like to see pbf lock up is the ww division because it's so rich in talent right now. Anyone who can unify that division in this day and age would go down as one of the all time greats. I guarantee this is something Roy would have done if he were at the top of his game right now.

Roy Jones was unique. A fabulous fighter. I feel privaleged to have followed his career as it happened. I missed Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard(prime), so was great to watch the true greatness of Roy Jones Jnr.

Who doesn't miss the old Roy Jones? There has NEVER been another fighter like him, and it will be a long time b4 there is another one. People got used to thinking P4P best in the world and seein Roy Jones Jr. fight. Now they think P4P best in the world and see PBF fight and its just not the same at all. Roy Jones had a lot of pop for his weight and blinding speed, plus he was much more unorthodox and entertaining than Floyd is. Whitaker was great, Floyd is great, both were/are P4P #1, BUT Roy Jones Jr. was in a class by himself.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

CC. I've never seen anything like him before. When I think of near perfect fighters I think of two guys: Prime Roy Jones Jr. and Prime Mike Tyson.

OK, so it's all been said earlier on, but I'm going to say it anyway.

Roy Jones at his prime definitely has a shout of being in the top 3 boxers of all time, cause he had everything. I just think it is a shame that he has gone on when his prime has faded, and tarnishing a superb legacy. However, if he has the motivation, the desire, and more than that the right opponent, he could still do a Foreman and come out of retirement to get a share of a world title. Roy Jones at 50% will still beat around 50% of the world champions with the alphabet belts.

Floyd doesn't have the one most important thing that RJJ did have, and that is a large and enthusiastic fanbase. Until he wins over the fans, then he will just be respected rather than truly loved as a boxer.

I completely agree, Im not a fan of either but Roy had a likability about him and even though I hated his cockiness, he was a good performer and boxer so id always watch his fights. He made fights exciting and entertaining. Floyd simply wins fights.

I'd like to see Roy fight again too. But he keeps asking for the purse he would get in his prime. Not going to happen anymore. I'm hoping Clinton Woods will fight him.
