    Default 140 pound division... Bleak?

. I dunno its just something about 140 about most of the guys there that anoys me

Lol..Witter and Ndou are so so but think they are alot better..

Mbaye is terrible.. Drew his first defence against a total bum..

Witter talked on about hatton for an age then fought some bum arturo morua.. At least he stopped him

And the other champion torres went and fought the same guy/bum!! and went the distance with him!

    What a division..

Its a division where there are two or three real good guys in the division and if the current champions start beleiving theyr own hype and defending against the best then good cos they wont be champions for long...
This is my quote that has inspired this topic..

The facts are pretty true..Some opinionated but all the same pretty realistic...

Where do you see the light welterweight division going?

I know where i can..And hope to see it go..

Like i mentioned before .. There are three or so good guys in the division plenty capable of clearing up

Here is how i see the title race going..

Witter doesnt get past his mandatory vicious vivian harris.. New wbc champ

Paulie malignaggi takes the ibf crown of shouldthinkbeforeIspeakmore' Ndou

I think Paulie then unifies against the weak Mbaye...

And finally no matter the winner of hatton castillo, i believe castillo will start to collect titles and there will be a race of his own to take them..

And i can see hatton taking maybe one more domestic fight at lightwelter if he beat Jlc and then moving up to welter ..whether a good choice or not..

If he looses i can see a rematch or him going after the titles again and taking on the little competition they have at lww

I actually replied to this in the other topic, but I feel there is enough to talk about in this division so I'll post what I can see happening in the not too distant future.

I'm not sure about Witter-Harris, I desperately want Witter gone. He's a prick an average fighter. When he stopped Morua he was throwing wild punches and looked like he had no idea what he was doing. He is less than impressive but I'm unsure about Harris. I hope Vivian pulls it out of the bag, but he lost to Maussa, so I'm not counting my chickens.

I see Malignaggi taking the IBF crown off N'Dou no problem. Paulie has a real chance to shine here and I see him taking it.

M'Baye will lose his WBA title to Welshman Gavin Rees on 7th July. Another undefeated Brit who can now use his chance to shine. Both are Frank Warren's fighters and I don't think he would have give Rees this shot if he wasn't planning to dump the unimpressive M'Baye. He knows M'Baye will lose his belt soon so best to put it on one of his own fighters who actually has a chnace to look good.

Torres will last there or there abouts. He'll prob fight Maussa once Maussa gets back from injury and destroy him. Torres is the best of the champions for me, he just needs to show it.

Hatton to beat Castillo in an amazing fight. I hope Castillo doesn't lose to any bums at light-welter.

Demetrius Hopkins will work towards a title soon too. Him vs. Paulie could be a great future fight.

Juan Lazcano needs to come back from his defeat to Harris and work towards another title. He could beat a few of the current champs.

Plenty of competition about though, even if it's not the best around, alot are at each others levels.

Yeh i agree with pretty much everything that has been said in this thread. It's a pretty mediocre division right now with Hatton and Castillo miles ahead of the competition. Apart from those two, it's lacking star quality.

I'd like to see Hatton vs Torres at some point.

Witter will beat Harris in a boring fight

Rees will probably beat M'Baye and maybe will fight Witter in a unification.

Will be interesting to see if Warren has the balls to put Gavin Rees in with Hatton if Rees becomes WBA king.

I agree with most of what you said, but I think Rees will defend against some bums before unification...and I think by then Witter will have lost his title.

Ohh what was i thinking ..OF COURSE!!

The controversially still undefeated prospect Demetruis hopkins is still at large..

But even after the L goes on his record Steve Forbes has alot of momentum at light welterweight and has built on his reputation

Frankly we do need the rematch of forbes - Dhop

And add the veteran Juan Lazcano into the mix and imo no world champions stand up to these three..

Plus once the titles have solid fighters holding the titles these extra names make for great defenses etc..

The division does look up here and there.. But these so called 'champions' are to be forced out first

I tip Forbes to make somewhat of an impact though

140 is a wasteland of a division right now. Everybody who was somebody moved up to welterweight last year.

As Teddy Atlas would likely put it

Hatton proved he was no brave adventurer by deciding the 147 lb mountain was too steep to climb and looking back down at his old homeland saw a nice cosy land, full of fluffy white rabbits and gentle streams, peasants tilling the land and herding sheep and he thought to himself , 'I can rule over these folk much more easily than face the dragons and trolls living in these snowy mountains.' So he climbed back down and sought out the current chief, a former goat herder by the name of Urango and challenging him to a fight he hugged and squeezed the life out of Urango until he conceded defeat and gave the realm back to Lord Hatton.

Then Hatton spied the other lands and thinking who best to challenge next he saw a small, battled scarred old man by the name of Castillo, who had been in many wars and was weakened from many battles and decided that he was the man to fight..............

Once Hatton has fought Castillo if he wins he should move up to 147 or fight Witter because thats probably the only big fight left at 140 it is very very bleak at 140 now

dont overlook Kendall Holt, who i believe is now Torres' mandatory. He has a lot of talent and despite some setbacks he seems very focused and dangerous now. He definitely beats Torres IMO.

Haaaaa cc. That is pretty much bang on the money.
Although I liked your vulture to lion analogy regarding the 140 div you posted a while back as well.
But true to the Teddy Atlas style, you didn't use the same analogy twice.
Good on ya for keeping the Teddying real

As funny as that is going with your new teddy atlas coming of old age and insanity theory..

    I have to disagree...

There is life in the division yet.. But the top is not where the life is.. The best fighters in the division are scattered about fighting eachother instead of making theyr money and legacies the right way by beating these fools that are called champions and unifiying titles..

My money is on Dhop, forbes malignaggi and harris bieng the next title holders..

I think lazcano could have a last hurrah by gaining a last world title and i think forbes and hopkins have the rematch to unify perhaps..

and maybe forbes gets a just decision..

Then hatton or castillo will tear up the scene .. depending on who wins and whether hatton ends up making big money to show what he is made of against floyd or oscar if it ever happens..

And castillo isnt done just yet.. Believe me he'll pull off a great fight...

Imo it'll be like barrera.. He had some rough times when he lost twice to jones..

But when he fought morales in that first fight..He may not have won..But you knew he was back

It'll be the same for castillo
