greatest ever probably not but he has to be up there, i mean come on how many 42 year old guys can beat a legitimate challenger who was undefeated in 8 years. Hell Bernard aint even hung up the gloves yet if he can get a fight against Calzaghi and win and move up to heavyweight and get a title there than he must be close to being one of the greatest surly.

now as much as i dont want bernard to be greater than jones just cuz im a jones fan, its just hard for people to say bernard is the greatest just cuz of the way he fights, ali and robinson were entertainin so its easier to say o there grreatest, czu they beat good guys in a exciting manner, no im entertained en watching bernard just not excited

When I thought about the title of this thread, I assumed that it would be a Hopkins love-in, so I thought I'd put my view across, heck, the hard thing is keeping my view to myself most of the time.

Anyhow, I agree that Hopkins has, in later life, happened upon a style which not only suits him but also makes it very difficult for those who are stepping in the ring with him. Whether he will go into retirement this time, or come back for one or two more, I think that someone somewhere must have the key to the B-Hop puzzle, and whoever that is better hope to get the fight before he's gone for good.

Hopkins is getting no younger, and despite his fine conditioning, training, and ring smarts, if he stays in the game eventually someone will get him. But if he goes out on a winning streak, then props to him and no doubt he is a p4p great and a hall of famer.

BHop is a heck of a fighter but there isn't alot of fighters in the heavier divisions anymore. This may keep him around for a few more years.

He's not better than when he was younger. He did kind of refine his style as he's gone on but it basically was there in the Tito fight.

I mean I don't see how you can't respect him. Its amazing that he was the fresher fighter at the end of the Winky fight. At 42. He's amazing, Hopkins and Toney have always been two of my favorites and it just shows what a fucking wasted career Toney had. Not that he didn't have some great moments, but if he had half of Bernard's discipline outside the ring he could have done even more considering I think he's more naturally talented than Hopkins. Nobody seemed more comfortable inside the ring than Toney, nobody. But he wasted a lot of it, unlike Hopkins.

That being said, I almost can't watch Hopkins' fights anymore, that coming from a fan. I became a fan before the Tito fight, he fights nothing like he did then. That's not a knock really, he's 42, he couldn't fight like that anymore. But its still a bit hard to watch at times.
