Default The New HBO Legendary Nights Episode's Cancelled

HBO has indefinitely shelved plans for six new episodes of the acclaimed 2003 Emmy-award winning documentary series "Legendary Night," which showcased 12 of HBO's most memorable fights, HBO Sports executive producer Rick Bernstein told ESPN.com. HBO had previously announced that a new batch of episodes was in the works and would debut in the fourth quarter of 2008. Bernstein did not give a specific reason, but said he hoped there would be more episodes eventually.

    From Espn.

    This sucks.

It does suck...ass holes & elbows.

Glad you brought it up...I loved Legendary Nights.

Something really special about that show.

Here's a question for you & the rest of the forum:

WHAT FIGHTS WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE COVERED ON LEGENDARY NIGHTS?

Right off the top of me noggin...

I'd love to see Calzaghe vs Lacy.

That one could be turned classic. They could pull off of Joe being undefeated & Lacy being the big bad up & coming popper that got totally dismantled & focus on Joe's record & him continuing to dominate @ 168 like no other has.

    Next?

    The Jones vs Tarver trilogy.

Another one that they could over dramatize. Super man moves up to heavyweight & humiliates Ruiz. Super man comes back down in weight to shut up his childhood nemesis to scrape out a win...only to get stopped & shown to be mortal in the follow ups. Oh the drama!

    Next after that?

Pacquiao vs Barrera double header or Pacquiao vs Morales trilogy. Both of those would be great showcases for Pac & for some reason...I believe that the Morales on would show greater on the boob tube.

Pavlik vs Taylor. This is one that I'd really REALLY love to see done. Basically the hometown heroes aspect could be played up really well here because both stars are the boy next door type. The press conferences before & after the fight...the trainer speeches...the knockdown, get up & knockout fight...this one is a shoe in for me. Tie the rematch into it & it's a classic on the Hagler Hearns level. Maybe not the equivalent of...but it's in the direction.

Again...those are just a few that would interest me.

Oh...& for the info Ice...wasn't trying to hi-jack your thread...but I figured it would be better to work together instead of me starting another thread.

They would never do Calzaghe-Lacy. As it was a Showtime fight. I wouldn't mind Hatton first loss against Collazo being done.

I hate when they don't mention a reason why but I have to believe ratings were down.

HBO has been around since the 60's mate was called something else though...somewhere in the mid 70's it became HBO...not sure what fights they showed or if they showed any back then though...so I just threw some out there...wasn't about to do research...I do know they were the first cable premium channel to have regular fights though...when I was a kid they did not have cinamax etc...HBO's only comp was a company called WHT that no longer exist....

I am ashamed for knowing that much about TV

    Absolutely loved Legendary Nights series.

I would like to see the Duran-Leonard trilogy. Although the 3rd fight should be just tagged on in the last minute or two. Keep the show about the first 2 fights. WOuldnt mind DUran-BArkley either or Jones-Toney.

Would love to see Foster/Rondon, Foster/Quarry, and Foster/Tiger; or anything else Foster. Foster/Frazier-Ali would be something alot of people haven't seen.
