Default RICKY HATTON - FANTASY MATCHUPS

I was just thinking about Ricky Hatton's place in history, and how he would have fared against some recent "better/best" 140 lbers (or near 140ers).

How do you think the following fights would go? Who wins....and how?

(Assume all fights at 140 pounds)

    1) Ricky Hatton vs Pernell Whitaker

    2) Ricky Hatton vs Roberto Duran

    3) Ricky Hatton vs Aaron Pryor

    4) Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu (PRIME)

    5) Ricky Hatton vs Shane Mosley

    6) Ricky Hatton vs Julio Cesar Chavez

    7) Ricky Hatton vs Oscar Delahoya

    6) Ricky Hatton vs Julio Cesar Chavez

    7) Ricky Hatton vs Oscar Delahoya

    1) Ricky Hatton vs Pernell Whitaker = One sided UD for Whitaker.

    2) Ricky Hatton vs Roberto Duran = 8th round stoppage win for Duran.

    3) Ricky Hatton vs Aaron Pryor = 9th round stoppage win for Pryor.

    4) Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu (PRIME) = Hatton by UD.

    5) Ricky Hatton vs Shane Mosley = Mosley by UD.

    6) Ricky Hatton vs Julio Cesar Chavez = Chavez by 9th round stoppage.

    7) Ricky Hatton vs Oscar De la Hoya = Oscar De La Hoya by UD.

Hatton can't live with any of these names in there primes except Tszyu who struggled against swarming style like he did with Vince Phillips other than that the rest take him to the cleaners.

    Ice,

Thanks for your perspective. I guess I have two questions:

#4) The Hatton-Tszyu fight was very close, and I considered that to be a substantially diminished Tszyu. Dontcha think a PRIME Tszyu would have done much better? His timing and Stamina? Especially if the fight was on neutral ground at a normal time?

#5) You feel that Shane would win by Decision rather than by KO? SSM was a terror at LW, even though his competition was weak. And the SSM that fought Oscar the first go-round was a high activity guy who was very comfortable with brawling.

Side note: If you think Pernell outboxes RH, are you picking FMJ to do the same?

I don't see how you can instantly come to that conclusion...

Hatton hasn't looked bothered by anybody at 140 so to say he would get taken to the cleaners is a little bit strong. Nobody even knows how good Hatton can be at 140 because he has only been pushed to the limit once and he came through that with flying colours.

You are right but i just think Hatton just has Tszyu's number style wise, if you watch Phillips fight in which Tszyu lost badly that was because Tszyu wasn't allowed to get punching room i feel Hatton would do the same but this time win UD.

Mosley was a beast at Lightweight one of the best Lightweight's ever i feel he lost quite a bit of power moving up he may ok KO Hatton but either way he would beat Hatton pretty comfortably either way.

Yes i do im Mayweather fan i love watching him fight he reminds me of watching Whitaker i know there not the same but anytime i watch Mayweather i always think of Whitaker.

Hatton has only fought one good name at 140 the others are goodish at best you are talking about Pryor, Chavez, Duran, legends Ono Hatton can't live with any of them there all much too good for Hatton.

Duran, Chavez, Pryor, Mosley, are all much too good for Hatton on the inside and Oscar, Whitaker, are much too good for Hatton on the outside explain to me how Hatton would win any of these fights ??

With all due respect, I wouldn't say that Hatton passed the Collazo fight "with flying colours". Ricky was badly hurt in the 12th and finished that fight on fumes. He staggered to the finish line.
He did not finish that fight like a champion. And not by choice.

Please be objective. If it was another fighter that looked like that in the final round, would you be as forgiving?

Collazo fight was at 147, not 140

I think he would lose every one of those fights

Oscar, Duran would have ko'ed him
Mosley probably would have ko'ed him
    Whitaker by UD
Against Aaron Pyror he might have actually done alright... I think aaron would have had difficulties with his swarming style.
Chavez would be another good fighter because Chavez hits hard, but Ithink he would have trouble with Hatton's style as well if he can't get off.
Tszyu I think would have more difficulties than anyone with Hatton, but would pull off the win in his prime with a close fight.

Legion, I know that the Collazo fight was at WW. I interpreted your statement to mean that he was only pushed to the limit once period. Not once at 140.

    No worries. Cheers.

Ono made the statement implying Hatton was only pushed once, not me. I thought that might be what you meant but wasn't sure DIOS, what about Judah at 140 with Hatton? Any thoughts on that fight?

    1) Ricky Hatton vs Pernell Whitaker - Pernell would outclass Hatton to a comfortable UD.

    2) Ricky Hatton vs Roberto Duran - Roberto wins this one by UD in a back and forth battle.

    3) Ricky Hatton vs Aaron Pryor - Hatton wins this match up by a UD, closing out the show and wining the last rounds. (This is Aaron without the bottle. Aaron with the bottle wins it by TKO)

    4) Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu (PRIME) - Hatton wins this by UD.

    5) Ricky Hatton vs Shane Mosley - I would take SSM by a UD.

    6) Ricky Hatton vs Julio Cesar Chavez - JCC by way of UD tremendous body work by both but JCC manages to edge out the win.

    7) Ricky Hatton vs Oscar Delahoya - ODLH by way of UD, more comfortable then Durans & SSMs wins.

Whatever Pryor had the same amount of energy with or without the bottle thats why he rematched Arguello. And beat the living crap out of him Pryor could go 15 rounds at a amazing pace if he had to and i never see him tire the guy was a living windmill, Pryor would give Hatton a pasting you underrate Pryor, you honestly think a peak Pryor would lose to Hatton ??

Nice set up piece Dios, something tells me your not terribly interested in Anyones thoughts and opinions only the opportunity to point out Hattons "flaws" like a over corrective micro manager.
No offense but by Endlessly berating and diminishing top notch past & present guys:
    Callazo
    Castillo
    Tszyu
    Pendleton
and anyone else brought up you come off like a truly nonobjective fan boy.
Floyd is a superb talent and a truly gifted boxer...He is a champion..So is Hatton!
