I know people are moaning about the scoring but I though Hatton just made it an ugly brawling mess of a fight. Rather than try to box Floyd he just wanted to turn it into a wrestling match and got beat at his own game.

I don't think Cortez did anything wrong, if he hadn't have kept intervening it would have just been a big lovemaking session on the floor.

Watching the fight again this afternoon I thought the scoring by the official judges was bang on.

Hatton didn't win many rounds at all imo. He just kept coming forward trying to smother Floyd but wasn't throwing any punches, except ones to the back of the head.

It was an ugly fight mostly, remniscient of Calzaghe Bika I thought.

Floyd did brilliantly beating Hatton at his own game on the inside and knocking him out.

I wouldn't have given Hatton any more than 3 rounds tops.

I don't recall Hatton landing any solid flush blows on Mayweather whilst Floyd had three absolutely dominating rounds where he caught Hatton flush, almost had him over and in the 10th KO'd him brutally.

Hattons only chance was to make it an ugly mess.

Hatton was landing some nice shots.
If you notice one in particular that Hatton landed right before Floyd allowed himself to be pushed thru the ropes. Hatton landed a nice clean shot and then both men were tying up and Floyd just allowed Hatton to push him thru the ropes. I think that shot stunned Floyd a little and that is why he allowed Hatton to push him thru the ropes. Floyd is a smart freakin weasel.

It was a messy fight and both fighters were doing a lot of holding.
Like I said before, I was not very impressed with the pound 4 pound kings performance. He was fighting a midget who pretends he is a Welter Weight. Now he gets chased back down to Jr. status again

To be fair though Danny Floyd could unify the HEAVYWEIGHT division and you'd still be unimpressed and say it was the weakest heavyweight division in years

Bilbo. If Floyd unified anything other than his big fat lips, I would be impressed.
Seriously though if Floyd dominated the HWD, it would indeed be one hell of a sorry @ss HWD would you not agree?

Bilbs... I read your entire post but I'm sorry I just couldn't get past this sentence...

Hatton to try and "box" PBF?
The thought of Hatton trying to box with PBF makes me grin... I just can't even picture it.
Hattons only chance was to make it a physical fight and try and get on the inside but oddly enough PBF was a better inside fighter them him.
    Go figure?

Nah maybe I worded it wrong. I didn't mean he should try and outbox Floyd he would have no chance. My point was that what Hatton did do in this fight could only in the very very loosest term of the word be called boxing at all.

It was very much like the Bika fight in that regard, in that you had a fighter who was hopelessly outclassed in the fight and so who attempted to win by not actually boxing at all but rather getting inside and trying to hold and maul.

That's why I never wanted Hatton to win, even though I'm a Brit. His style simply cannot be called boxing imo. It's basically wrestling in which throws and slams are outlawed.

So no I didn't suggest Ricky should try and 'outbox' Floyd but merely noted that he didn't even actually try to box whatsoever.

They both were ugly fights, but i don't think they were similar. Calzaghe was throwing Combo's Mayweather was throwing 1 punch at a time. Plus Bika was competitive with Calzaghe and won a couple of the last rounds, Bika is one tough cookie.

Floyd was throwing one punch at a time and HUGGING and or ducking below the waist and then coming up under Hatton's armpit over and over again. This is why I was not impressed with Floyd's overall performance. He looked sloppy throwing wild punches and hugging too much.

Who was moaning about the scoring?? (just got back from Vegas)
I gave Hatton 2 rounds max as did every single hardcore Hatton fan around me? In fact they gave him less. I heard on my way out of the MGM that Lederman had Hatton leading?? If so, that fool needs to be handed his resignation. WTF??
Dominant defensive and offensive display by PBF!
