I have always been a fan of "Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather in the ring. But the way he acts outside of the ring made me want to see him get knocked the f*ck out. It was a juxtaposition of feelings towards him. The pinnacle of respect while at the same time the bottom of the barrell in personality.
This weekend made me completely look at him differently. First off, at the conclusion of the fight and at the press conference he had nothing but great things to say about Ricky Hatton and the British fans. He admitted at times he was in trouble and that Hatton's pressure was something he had never seen before. He also admitted that his past couple fights have been "duds" and finally showed everyone and the skeptics that he can still mix it up in the ring. Mayweather could've easily said "i told you so," but he didn't. He told it how it was.
A little plus side to Mayweather that I never noticed before. I was watching Pacquiao vs Morales II today and Floyd was sitting in the front row. Considering Floyd and Manny are each other's competition pound-for-pound Floyd was actually jumping off his seat everytime Manny landed a significant punch. EVEN yelling at Pacquiao and pointing out everytime Morales was in trouble. When Morales got knocked down the first time, you can see Floyd yelling at Pacquiao while he was still in the neutral corner "GET ON HIM! GET ON HIM!" (I wonder if Manny noticed this). As soon as the fight was stopped, Mayweather jumped on his seat, raised his hands, and cheered. If anyone has the chance to watch this fight again, notice Mayweather, cause you can tell he is a true fan of the sport and gets excited watching boxing like the rest of us.
...Floyd Mayweather has earn my utmost respect in every sense of the word...
