Default Am I On The Wrong Site??

More and more it seems like guys in here are more concerned with the business side of boxing than the fights themselves. Every time you bring up a fight with Cotto and floyd, floyds fans go nuts with excuses about it not being financially up to par.

    This is the fight game!!

I would want nothing more than to see my favorite fighter fight the real best out there. Win or lose. That's the mark of a great fighter.

Go check Donald Trump website if you want to talk about business. Remember the fighters get paid to fight and we pay to see them so we should be demanding great fights.

Cotto has won fighter of the year on Fox Sports Premio 3 years straight so I don't want to hear that he is not a prominent enough name.

Check floyds ppv numbers and against who and you'll realize that he's not the draw in the big ones. The not so big ones, ppv sales are average at best.

That's my proof right there how nervous and frantic floyd fans become when the fight is brought up.

It's not that this is a business site but probably more that some of us fight fans actually like to give educated answers based on realistic equations.

If you just want 'Why doesn't Floyd step up and fight Kelly Pavlik?' or 'Could Manny Pacquaio beat Oscar De La Hoya?' type threads with no real world analysis or common sense applied then by all means hop on over to dogshiteboxing and you'll feel right at home.

If on the other hand you want to speak with fellow fight fans who consider an argument fully and are capable of comprehending all the different facets of boxing including the commerical and political sides then continue to post here.

Saddo's is the number one boxing site for many reasons, the unusual (for a boxing site) intelligence of it's posters being one of them.

Damn, I think you've been spending too much time on the Saddo Arcade. You sound ridiculous.

We can go back and forth about this all day but you rarely make sense.

Unfortunately though boxing is a business, I want to see Cotto - Mayweather as well, I just want to make sure that the fighters get the maximum exposure. It's not a matter of they wouldn't make money, it's a matter of a build up, the hype machine needs to get going full force. If it was simply a matter of making good matchups, title holders would be fighting 4 times a year, unification bouts would be common place and we wouldn't be able to say "X" is ducking "Y". What's the rush anyway? Cotto has plenty of good opportunities for him at 147. It's like this if Floyd wants to fight, the fight will happen if he wants to retire or take a break, let him..........we can all judge him for those choices. I understand your dilema, but business is a reality of boxing, and if it wasn't there wouldn't be fighters making 8 digit paychecks per fight, and there weren't fighters making 8 digit paychecks a fight, well.......................
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

That was a well thought out and articulate post.

It seems that you might be a little upset because some of the words he used were a little too big for you.

Cotto has proven himself more than anyone else out there twofold, but Mayweather will have to go bankrupt before he fights Cotto IMO. Just from what I've heard though I see Mayweather maybe being in trouble once taxes come around because that is what really catches fighters off guard. In terms of opponents fought Mayweather has Mosley, Cotto, and WIlliams left before he starts getting the credit he deserves for how good he is. I see all of these tough fights, and the onis is on Mayweather, but I could see him being scared to a degree of Cotto because he thought COtto was going toget KO'ed early by Mosley, but that didn't happen.

I agree about Mayweather needing to beat Cotto, but you can scratch Wiliams (until he beats a few top fighters, at least) and Mosley off of that list.

Mayweather would/should get no more credit for beating a 36 year old Mosley at 147 then he got for beating Delahoya at 154, especially when you factor in that Mosley is coming off of a loss to Cotto.

Think about it, if Mayweather beats Cotto, are people gonna say that he is ducking Mosley if he doesn't fight him? Of course not.

    As for Paul Williams.............

All he's done is beat up on an outclassed Antonio Margarito that was never really a major player in the welterweight division. Paul Williams needs a few TOP fighters on his resume before people can start saying that Mayweather needs to fight him. Personally, I think that Paul Williams is gonna be real good, but he's a real big guy and I don't see him staying at welterweight too much longer.
