been waiting to write about this for a WHILE now..

coming into this fight, Jermain knows that he has to sort out his stamina problems.. I think JT has a good chin, and took Pavlik's punched well early, but as soon as he got too tired, he wasn't able to move enough to avoid a combination of flush bombs..

BUT with that said.. I do not think JT has the defense to go that many more rounds than he did the last time they fought, so I think he needs to really just do the same thing he did last time.. come out SWINGING.. He's going to need to score a KO/TKO fairly early to beat Pavlik.. Pavlik will eventually find Taylor and knock him out, it will just be a matter of time.. Only thing is JT needs to be a bit more cautious at the beginning of the fight, because last time he really wasn't showing any respect at all and got caught a couple of times.. So if he comes out and conserves his energy, and is accurate with his big punches, then i think he has a chance.. I don't see this fight going the distance, and for every round past the 5th-6th that goes by i think Pavlik gets the advantage more and more.

I don't know, there are a lot of unanswered questions for me.

Like, even if Taylor were to win, Pavlik is still the champ. So would Jermain be the new junior-super-middleweight champion?
Will Manny Steward work the fight for HBO, and if so, will he still tell us that Pavlik hasn't beaten a quality fighter?
Can Ozell "The Bricklayer" Nelson out-train (or out-swear) Jack "The Driveway Paver" Loew?

A silly rematch ?? are you kidding me ?? this is a fight between the two best Middleweights in the world at the moment. There 1st fight was an excellent encounter and one of the best Middleweight fights in the last 15 years. Taylor deserves a rematch he was very competitive and even had Pavlik in big trouble in the 2nd round. Its a fight that all the boxing fans wanted to see so i can't understand your logic at all.

As for predictions on the fight i think it goes pretty much the same way except for Pavlik getting floored. I can Taylor being cautious and trying to establish the jab, the only problem is that Pavlik has a much longer reach so he can catch Taylor on the counter all night. Taylor does not catch the jab with his right glove and then counter with a rising jab of his own so that will be a big problem. Because the jab was one of the keys in there 1st fight Pavlik was snapping Taylor's head back constantly then firing a quick right hand. Another problem for Taylor is the pace that Pavlik sets, Taylor has very suspect stamina and tires out quickly. I don't quite understand why though, because Taylor is in very good condition it can only be 1 thing and thats *Nervous Energy* just like in the fight with Hopkins which was a very slow paced fight. Yet Taylor run out of steam because he is fighting on nervous energy he needs to sort out that problem and quickly. Taylor has all the physical tools but i question his mentality when fighting, it wouldn't surprise me if Taylor won because he is very skilled. But i think Pavlik is too strong, too active, and his reach will be a big advantage as well.

Pavlik wins by TKO in the 9th.

I'll predict this, if Taylor is KO'd again he will never be the same fighter!

What mistakes ?? Taylor started out aggressively, he landed good shots and floored Pavlik. And done everything in his power to stop Pavlik, he used his lazer jab again, i think Taylor fought a pretty good fight. I don't think he made any real major mistakes, its just Pavlik was getting the better of the jab battle because he had more snap to the jab plus he has the longer reach, plus Pavlik put Taylor on the back foot something Taylor cannot stop. Pavlik just has the style to beat him and sometimes it doesn't matter how much you train in the gym or etc, some fighters just have your number.

Taylor needs to do a lot different in this fight and in theory it is possible but its a bit of a big ask IMO.

I wouldnt say he needs to get Pavlik out of there quickly but he definately needs to find ways to use Pavlik's aggression against him. ''Walk him on to the shots Jermain''.

Im keen to see if Taylor has a bit more sharpness at 168 because he looked flat and crude in his last fight.
He needs to be a lot sharper and faster, particularly when pucnhing in combination.

The left hook from outside would have worked a treat had it been faster.

He also needs to ditch the looping-rights and the crude-uppercuts from outside.... Unless he's willing to work the bigger man down stairs and make the openings. Little raids to the gut would do nicely. The jab would work better for it too.

Final point. Pavlik does a hell of a lot off the jab. Which suprises me actually.

in a way i want Pavlik to win because it could set up a fight with Calzaghe which would be a mental fight.

If Taylor wins we will see a trilogy!

It wouldn't because Calzaghe will be staying at Light Heavyweight if he beats Hopkins. Then his final fight will be against Jones and i don't see Pavlik moving up to Light Heavyweight.

My prediction is that it will end by KO no matter who wins. Like RP33 said. Taylor won't last 12 rounds with Pavlik and his best bet is to try and hurt him early and this time finish it. I think he is very capable of doing it. Neither of these guys got great defense and I think the first fight prooved that both have the capability to KO the other.

On another subject, I think if Tito wants to continue fighting, he should take the loser of this fight and if he wins that than go for the winner.

If Calzaghe defeats hopkins the only reason to fight RJJ is for the money, its only a big fight because of the name Jones once was.

He could fight Pavlik at a 170 catch weight and i dont think that would bother KP one bit as he seems like he only want to fight the best! Anyway Fighting Pavlik would be far more dangerous than fight RJJ
