That knockdown was legit and they are going to protest that also? The only alternative the ref had to that would have been to stop it.
theres nothing to protest, accept it gary or try for a forth fight. this could be like sugar ray and jake lamotta 5 fights for the heck of it.
The ref did a good job. Not great, but good enough. As Al Bernstein puts it, it's really hard to avoid controversy on a great fight like that.
Sorry, I changed it.
Happy now?![]()
What will filing a protest do? This is more a pride thing because Marquez knows if he hadn't gone down he'd have a draw, and on top of that if he hadn't had a point deducted he'd have won. The guy is frustrated at being the guy that will be remembered for coming second in one of the best trilogies ever. If this lures Vazquez into a 4th fight, then I'm ok with that as I could watch these guys fight all day.
All this protest business means that the Marquez camp is probably going to try to lure the Vazquez camp into another fight. The protest I had was that those three low blow warnings were bogus. They were not low at all, though definitely at the belt. I am not blaming the referee because he did warn Marquez. But perhaps he could have looked mor closely.
The ref did a good job imo. If he didnt give him a count in the 12th he could have been stopped. The ref made the right call that it was a knockdown. Clearly the ropes were holding him up. As for the low blows though some were borderline, he had fair warning.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
The ref did an excellent job. He lets the guys fights and only took a point off after several low blows.
