Default Calvin Brock says he's blind in one eye-out of boxing for a while

    its on boxingtalk

says he has a detached retina in his right eye, and that it was something like he had a stroke in his eye, not really sure how that works. Apparently came after the Chambers fight.

At one point he says he's looking for a new career but apparently he's planning on coming back at some point, but nothing set at all.

Blood clot (which cause strokes) can clot in the eye and detacth the retina apparently.
Thats a very very serious injury, that can happen at any time.
Same thing that forced Sugar Ray Leonard into retirement before Hagler.

That's a bummer. Personally, I've always liked Brock, though he looked like crap in his last fight. Hope he does get back in the ring at some point.

That's a shame...Brock is a nice guy....Let's hope he recovers even if he does not fight again...I don't wish that on anyone....I like to see fighters leave the sport healthy as possible

Brock at one time was a pretty good prospect and could still give a lot of guys trouble. He was cautious in the Klitschko fight but once he opened up, he didn't give a bad account of himself.

At least he has something to fall back on, he's a smart guy with a degree so it shouldn't be to hard for him to make a living outside of boxing.

He has a job outside of boxing,,,Calvin actually has an impressive portfolio and truly was a Banker...Managed one of those banks that worked with strictly stocks and bonds not a public bank....I think he holds some sort of relationship with Bank of America as well...With or without Boxing Calvin is in no need for money....

I just wish all these fighters had something to fall back on....Not so much something in such a high field but something that would assure they don't end up broke or making $8 bucks an hour

A pretty good prospect People thought he was the next big thing in the division, just like they did with

    Whitaker
    Guinn
    Grant
    etc

Don't remember quite that much talk about him, especially not like Grant. Don't remember the buzz being all that big about him and a lot of people didn't like his fight with Timor and not many picked him against Wlad. I think Peter was much more talked about during that time but I could be wrong...
