Default Oscar And Forbes Both Impressed Me Tonight

I think this is the best i've seen Oscar look in a couple years, and Stevie was there there the whole fight and made it interesting. He made a good account of himself. What impressed me about Oscar is he fought like a hungry fighter. I think both guys accompilshed what they wanted to, so it was a sucessful night overall.

Totally agree. I was expecting Forbes to be knocked down easily but the guy took some punches quite well and looked strong throughout the fight. I am not sure if his punches are powerful but he boxed well and had decent defense.

ODLH's jab finally came back. I mean, 30+ jabs per round! Not bad. Also, he didn't seem drained after the 6th round as many say he does.

All in all, I am happy with this fight. Like I said in the other thread I started, I felt bad for Forbes but after this I think it went well for both. Forbes got exposure and ODLH seemed to somewhat improve. Against a lesser fighter, I know, but still, he looked ok.

I was more impressed with Forbes than I was with Oscar TBH. Oscar was disapointing and he said he was abi disapointed himself but on the plus side he did improve his jab and fitness levels IMO which are the two things that cost him vs Floyd last time.

I was least impressed with Larry Merchant's deep throating of Oscar the entire evening. The prefight interview was an absolute circle-jerk, and I can guarantee you that any other superstar who can't even knock down, let alone knock out a guy from the 'Contender' is getting grilled by Merchant afterwards. But with Oscar it's like he just saw the Thrilla in Manilla.

Surprised at the reaction to the fight to be honest. Considering our talk prior most were expecting a total destruction. But ignoring the negative wich is pretty much Oscar did not KO him. There are more positives to take from that fight.

    DLH did not fade
DLH used his jab consistantly (it's one of the best)
DLH Parried the shots with some ease and Forbes has some handspeed

and DLH worked the body well

This fight was a tune-up...and Oscar "tuned up" exactly what forbes was there for.

DLH didn't stop Forbes, he didn't drop Forbes, and he didn't really hurt Forbes and in the meantime Oscar got his face all busted up.

Where has Oscar's power gone? He landed some decent left hooks and yet Forbes took them pretty easy.

I will tell you Forbes had better make use of this fight he did very well and now he can move on to fight someone like Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron, or even Andre Berto.

Forbes has never been down in his entire career. I dont think it was because Oscar didnt do enough, it was because Forbes is that tough. Credit needs to be given where it is due, and that is to Forbes credit. That does not take away from Oscars performance. Steve is a former world champion and he showed why he is last night. Its unfair to hold Oscar to those standards. The fact that he holds himself to those standard shows that he is a determined fighter who still wants to reach more goals in the ring.

Forbes looked tiny at 150 ad I don't think he should fight any of those welterweights you mentioned.

He's slick but no power so I don't think he'd be capable of stopping or beatng any of those guys.

At 140 lbs though I really think he's a legitimate contender. I'd love to see him get a chance against one of the junior welterweights, I think he would school Torres, and the big three of Malignaggi, Witter and Hatton would certainly have their work cut out.

He simply doesn't have enough power to challenge the bigger guys at 147 but he's a slick customer and could definitely have a chance of winning a belt at 140.
