Default PBF no longer WW king (Never was IMO) Vacats belt like I said he would.

I told people a long time ago that Floyd would indeed vacat that nasty barf looking belt before defending it against Tony or Miguel.

    Guess what?

    Prophecy again my friends.

    Read it and weep.

Look who is fighting for this mickey mouse trinket now?

Floyd has tainted this belt and it has now become the belt of jokes.

    By Mark Vester

According to a recent interview with trainer Tony Morgan, the June 21 WBC eliminator between his fighter, undefeated Andre Berto, and Miguel "Mikki" Angel Rodriguez of Mexico, will now be for the vacant WBC welterweight title.

Morgan says that Mayweather will be vacating the title because he is not planning on defending it within the WBC's time limit. Mayweather defended the belt last December against Ricky Hatton, who was moving up in weight and unranked by the WBC at 147-pounds.

Since winning the title from Carlos Baldomir in 2006, Mayweather has not defended the belt against a ranked welterweight. He will possibly return to action in September in a possible rematch with Oscar De La Hoya, at a catch-weight of 150-pounds.

Berto is the number-one ranked welterweight under the WBC, and Rodriguez is ranked at number-two. The fight takes place at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. HBO will televise.

Morgan tells Duward Buck of The Ledger that his fighter is currently training at the Phantom Boxing Gym in South Beach near Miami, and also tells the writer that if Berto beats Rodriguez, they will target the other champions and Mayweather in 2009.

"He's had some tremendous boxers to spar against," Morgan said. "He still hasn't learned how to back up yet. I expect him to fight again in the fall. Would we fight Mayweather? That is something we are looking at for next year."

Well the WBC belt isn't the important belt he won from Carlos Baldomir.

I still think he fights Cotto either at the end of next year or the beginning of next.

Exactly he would have to defend it against Andre Berto i mean who really wants to see that at this point in Berto's career ?? just because Mayweather got rid of WBC title means nothing all you have to do is look at top 5 challengers in WBC organization and you would see its actually not a bad idea him vacating WBC title.

The Ring needs to change that shit. I am tired of them. Just because Floyd did not lose it in the rign should not mean he still remains number one. It does not make sense today, and it did not make any sense yesterday. FUCK THE RING!

I agree about the Ring belt. I wish there was some sort of inactivity clause although Hatton was a Ring champion it's not like that win shouldn't count for anything. I think if you rank welterweights based on what they've done at welterweight then Cotto definitely gets it. But that's not how The Ring works. Winky Wright was the 154 lb champ for a long time into his middleweight campaign before he gave the belt back himself. That's what you have to do. Don't agree with it but that's how it is.

You were contradicting yourself for the exact reasons Ice said. He was right to drop the WBC belt and for the exact reasons you yourself mentioned Danny. Because it's the "World Bullshit Council" in your words. Had he kept that belt and defended against Berto you would have slammed him and rightfully so. But now you're criticizing him for dropping it. Or at least the original post it did but it's nothing more then another one of your countless veiled attacks.

That is why Winky is such a great guy. A great fighter and a gentleman.

The WBC is a bullshit belt. Guys get it just because they rarely have to defend it. Fact.

Even though he's vacating the WBC belt he is still the no 1 Welter. Don't think there's anyone close inc Cotto.

    Why wont he prove it?

Why would you defend this fruad? I don't get it. Did he prove to you he was the the number one Welter Weight?

Who did he beat at Welter Weight that warrants him such a top spot?

I am not going to mention their names, I will have you do it. So I can laugh when I get back.

I don't like his attitude and he should defend his belt against the very best in the Welter divison. I agree with you on that. But he has beaten quality opposition over the years and I think he would outbox anyone in the Welter divison. Just my opinion. He should chase a fight with Mosely and then the winner of Cotto-Marg. I believe he will after the De La Hoya rematch.
