    Default Question about Rocky III

I heard that before Mr. T, there was a boxer in real life named Earnest (can't remember his last name) that was supposed to portray Clubber Lang. But he had a squeaky voice, much like Mike Tyson, and Stallone didn't want that.

Then there was another guy (don't know if it was Earnest or not), that got in the ring and wanted to beat the hell out of Stallone, he didn't understand the concept of 'ACTING', and that in the script he was going to lose, so Stallone had to kick him out. Does anyone know the guys name?

Earnie Shavers was the first name considered for the role of Clubber Lang so thats where you get Ernest from

    Joe Frazier was also considered

Thats all I know - hope this helps

Didn't Joe Frazier make an appearence in the 1st movie? Don't know if it was him in real life (it looked like it was), but he shook hands with Apollo and Rocky before the fight.

One of the best lines from the first film,Frazier gets in to the ring and starts clowning around with Apollo Creed. Rocky turns to Micky and says,"They must be friends"

I think i can put some of this straight. Earnie Shavers was asked by Stallone to try out for the part of Clubber Lang. So Earnie turns up and Stallone asked him to do a fight scene. So Earnie ( one of the hardest punchers in history ) did a fight scene and purposely pulled his punches. Stallone after about 10 minutes said come on Earnie you got to punch properly so Shavers punched Stallone in the stomach at full tilt and knocked Stallone down for about 10 minutes. At the end of the trial Stallone told Shavers he wouldnt get the part because the public wouldny buy into Stallone knocking Shavers out. This is all written in the Shavers autobiography "Welcome to the Big time"

PS- in Rocky 2, Micky tells him he needs speed so Rocky spars with a ligtweight. If you look carefully it is Roberto Duran. Check the credits if you want to.

    Hey guys,

My first post, so be nice! Just kidding.

At Wrestlemania 2, he and Roddy Piper did some real (and some fake) boxing and T blew up in minutes. Piper had some boxing background and even though he threw mainly worked punches, his hand speed was twice as T's. T could only really lunge.

As a boxer, he probably wouldn't have been very good. But as a bodyguard who needed to look mean, not sure there was anyone better.

The guy is actually known to be genuinely nice fellow. Does a slew of charity work. I also know he is a genuine bad ass that is not to be messed with.

If I am not mistaken he was in a special op's division of the military (The kind where they infiltrate places and leave no witnesses) and no I do not mean the A-Team lol.

He was a student of Bruce Lee's as well as a Body guard for him. He was a bodyguard for Joe Frazier, Leon Spinks and for a while Ali.

He was discovered at the Worlds Toughest Bouncer Competition.

I was a hige fan as a teenager. Why? I could not tell you
