    Default The barrera-Morales trilogy

If anyone ever needed proof that boxing was the most exciting exhilarating sport created by man you neednt look no further than the 3 wars these 2 had.

Day off from work and i decided what the hell i`ll draw the curtains, open a few brewski`s and sit back and watch the 3 wars back to back.

The aggresion both showed, the back and forth nature each and every round had in it. Every time either guy looked to have the upper hand back came the other with a barrage of stinging shots.

I scored all 3 fights dead even but for the Knockdown that wasnt in the 1st fight.

Has there even been a greater setup of matchups not only in pro boxing but in sport all together??

    What a cracking Trilogy!
I had it scored for Barrera in the first and third, but for Morales in the 2nd!
Mind you it could go either way in any of the fights.

The punishment they both administered and withstood was awesome, but probably shaded years of their fighting careers.

1st fight had everything you could possibly ask from a boxing match.

Both had the upper hand in every round, both were hurt badly in most rounds, both finished that 12th and final round pretty much out on their feet.

I had it by 1 for morales until the final round when not only did barrera win the round but got the knockdown giving him on mine and another judges scorecard the sneak 114-113 win.

But for a potential pac-Marq 3rd fight i honestly cannot see the trilogy ever being beaten in terms of out and out excitement.

I would like to watch them all again. I had them MAB, EM MAB, but perhaps too close to call any of em.

I watched the second Pac v Marquez fight with the sound off so I missed a lot of the atmosphere, but I don't think it's quite as good as Barrera v Morales.

I find that both of these are higher in my estimation than Gatti v Ward because of the significance of the fights.

i also feel the first fight was alot better than the other two and the entire trilogy isnt as good as morales/barrera or vasquez/marquez

The first fight was a corker and the third fight was thrilling also, But the weak second fight was far below anything that Morales/barrera/Vasquez or Marquez offered.

when you consider the fact that many people feel boxings popularity has fallen due to a weak heavyweight division, its a shame that these lower divisions dont have the same draw power, as they tend to have the more exciting fights imo

I much prefer Morales-Barrera and Vazquez-Marquez. The skill level of both fighters is much higher in those fights than the Gatti-Ward trilogy.

Same here . I dont think Barrera - Morales will ever be equalled . Atleast not in my lifetime.

The 1st fight was the best . I think they got the wrong winner but a classic non the less . 2nd fight was more tactical, I think Marco looked at teh Hamed fight and realised he could win big fights without taking punches and he did . But in the 3rd fight he got that warrior mentality back and im glad he did . Great trilogy!

Their first fight might be the best I have ever seen. It's right up there with Castillo-Corrales I and the Vazquez-Marquez fights.

Morales-Barrera is the best trilogy of this decade. One thing I liked is that they took time off between the fights, so there were always new themes for each fight, unlike other trilogies where they just fight 3 times in a row in a short amount of time.

I thought Morales won the first two fights, with Barrera clearly winning the 3rd.

I still rank their first fight as the Fight of the Decade, above Castillo-Corrales I.

This matchup was a classic case of two guys who were already Hall of Famers in their own right, but when they got put in the same ring, they forced each other to go to even higher levels.

The thing for me that makes barrera vs morales the greatest trilogy in my life is the fact you have to all time greats going to hell and back for 3 full 12 round fights.

isreal and rafa's first 2 fights ended mid way...

If you want to talk about action packed per rounds fought, then its no question, the fight with rafa and isreal had more; But barrera and morales had everything in it - to me the greater trilody, possibly the greatest that has ever taken place.
