I think he brings up some valid points about why he didn't want to face Cotto just yet, at the time
1) He didn't say it, but obviously his fight with Oscar in september which at the time was still on determined what happened after it.
2) He stated that Cotto still needed to increase his fan base, which the next two fights surely will do.
3) Cotto needs to get rid of Arum because the old man and Floyd don't get along.
4) Cotto needs to call him out, Mayweather was the unified champ, he was the p4p #1, he was also the bigger attraction as of yet with the right opponent.
I didn't agree with what he said comparing his fight with Judah to Cotto's fight with Judah. While Floyd didn't ever get hurt by Judah he did have a much slower start than Cotto against Judah, and Cotto fought more his fight against Judah than Mayweather was able to, and that fight has no relevance to them fighting. If anything it shows that to a degree Cotto can deal with Floyd's speed. I think this is one of the most well spoken interviews I've seen Mayweather in, but IMO he definitely wasn't ducking Cotto, and it is clear he was waiting for Cotto to become a larger market.
